never attempted a mod but could be tempted to experiment with one of these,

is there a basic tutorial anywhere which utillises cannabilised parts from an ego type battery any one can point me towards?

I am waiting for bits to come from fasttech (circuitry /switch ) before starting
picture is bit deceiving there ,it is a bit tight about 2mm from top but fits just

dickyg will be a bit of a squeeze, the bowl at its deepest point is 35mm and there is a slight slope going to around 34mm at its shallowest, it may be able to tolerate 0.5mm grinding out but i think that would weaken it considerably, alternatively just have a raised cap on the bowl. diameter of bowl is 28mm so may even get one in on a slight angle.
for a really quick modification, (though hardly a build) the stem itself could be cut down a bit then just insert 650mah ego battery as it comes, hey presto instant e-pipe.

That video certainly gives some direction. I was hoping to eventually end up with a mech mod with changeable battery and the bowl cover acting as the switch. Maybe I'm stretching myself too far!!

Hi,
I did this with an old pipe that I had stashed away. I just drilled the stem out with a 16mm forstner drill and then built the battery up with a couple of turns of black electrical tape so that it was a tidy sliding fit.
I had plenty of time on my hands so I went further. I drilled a hole in the back of the bowl below the stem and glued in a 3mm brass pipe and then bent and cut the pipe so that the end of it was just below the end of the drip tip. Now just by taking a drag and exhaling without removing the pipe from my mouth I can have "smoke" drifting up from the bowl of the pipe.
The empty bowl didn't look right so I filled it with black , orange and red faceted beads stuck in place with superglue. A quick squirt of water makes the glue set and turns it a greyish colour. A quick glance gives the impression that the bowl is full of burning tobacco complete with smoke and ash.
