My first DIY Mix, just a few thousand questions away. As the heading says, “My first DIY Mix, just a few thousand questions away.”, well maybe not, just need a little confidence, before I roll my sleeves up, put on the rubber gloves and become a trainee Alchemist. Have been very busy researching. I have got the PG and the VG, intend ordering the Nic Base from here, thanks Romelee www.ltecigs.larsentilbrook.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=61_107&product_id=488 And Tobacco flavour from here, thanks Digicig, www.leisureliquids.com/m&p%20tobacco%20praze%20concentrate.html Trying to use the E-Juice Calculator (of course never used it before) so just asking does this seem ok'ish ?, based on using 10 % of Tobacco Flavouring to make a 50ml batch of e-juice, so to speak. Nic Strength 100 PG 54mg Target Strength 18mg Amount to make 50 ML Nic Base 16.67ml 33.34% Target PG 60 % 10.83ml 21.66% Target VG 40 % 17.5 ml 35. % Flavour 5. ml 10. % The above is what the calculator recommends, based on 10% flavour, does the flavour percentage seem ok ? Or am I way out ? I guess this is a sort of how long is a piece of string question, but just a gentle nudge in the right direction will do. Much appreciated.

I almost exclusively vape Mom and Pops flavours these days - for the tobacco flavour ones I use 15-20% flavour - for the sweet/cake recipes I have found I can cut back to 10-15%. Its really about individual taste. Make some samples at different strengths and make your own mind up. Ive mixed from 50/50 to 90/10 PG/VG and Ive found that it seems to taste best for me around the 70/30-80/20 PG/VG. The really annoying part is waiting for them to steep. I can vape mom and pops tobacco flavours almost immediately after they are mixed - like after a few hours - HOWEVER I find they get much more better after 2-3 weeks of steeping. Im really enjoying Buds Blend at present. For some reason Praze doesnt like my taste buds. (not quite at present as I find myself unable to vape just now until Thursday - but this is the flavour I was on before my interuption to vaping)
At the end of the day though your recipe above - substitute the flavour for another of Mom and Pops tobaccos and Id easily vape it all day long.

If it was my first attempt, I would make a smaller quantity first. Tobacco flavours generally need a higher percentage.
Aim for 6 ml with 2ml base (33.33%), 0.4 ml plain PG (~8%),1.2 ml flavour (20%) and 2.4 ml VG (40%). Allow it to steep for atleast a week and try it.
If you are happy try mix larger quantities or adjust flavouring strength and try a small quantity again before mixing larger lots.

Macca's advised exactly what I was going to . . . it's the biggest mistake ever, in my opinion obviously, to rush headlong in and make large quantities of anything. Unless you're following a Members tried and tested recipe, even then it may not be to your liking. It's far better to make a few flavours up in 10ml maximum, until you get your mixing hand in and get a feel for your flavours and tastes. Get a large volume wrong, then you're likely to be disappointed and have to spend time faffing around adjusting to make something vapeable. Start small and then work up.

Can't agree more. Small quantities like 10ml are easier to make, cost less if it all goes belly-up, and if you like it then it's easy to make more. 2 pieces of advice- 1) - always, always write down your recipes or save them in EJMU or as a simple notepad file for future reference. 2) - go easy on the percentage of flavouring unless you are following a tried and tested recipe. You can add more later, but you can't take it out!
Best of luck, and let us know how you get on! Andy

Really pleased you are expanding and good luck with the new apprentices, I am sure they will be plenty of applicants. I made my first mix today, ended up getting all my stuff from Postmodern Smoking which worked out great. I know I should have let it steep for a lot longer than the ten minutes I did so, (stop laughing, Frogster), but hey it was magnificent. As good as anything I have bought, and presume it will only get better, over the next 48 hours, because I will have vaped it all by then, well maybe not as I mixed 25ml. I mixed it top heavy VG, as I had noticed in the DIY recipes, all your recipes “ Frogster” , apart from one are VG top heavy so to speak in the tobacco section. Many thanks for posting your recipes Frogster (and every one else for that matter) and the friendly banter, and many thanks also to all the above who offered advice, I sort of used a piece from all of you, but had to go for 25ml because it was easier for me to measure out, if you get my drift. Lucky for me it worked out. Thanks again all.
