Sorry to spoil your fun dude, but the last thing you want is the battery to start breaking down.

Thing is, the idea of micro-coil's is to be able to run them on a regulated device, try 1 coil, at like 10-12 watts on a regulated

I ve avoided sub ohm completely but im curious as to where the info is on max amperage on a battery (or where i could find the info)?

Those 30a batteries are absolutely fine, but slightly overkill, the grey pannys can provide 10a safely, so unless your going ridiculously sub ohm the 30a aren't necessary Most manufacters will provide a data sheet for said batteres for the safe limits, I couldn't find one for the ultra fire which troubles me even more. Also, a micro coil like discussed within this thread allows you to have kind of the same experience as sub ohm but without safe limits, it allows you to run it on a regulated device as massive voltage and cloud chase

Avoid Ultrafire and Trustfire at all cost in a mech mod. They often appear to be rebranded and even reused cells, so there is no way of telling when they break down. If you go sub ohm, you NEED a battery that can take it. "But it works" does unfortunately not tell anything about the safety.
Batteries to use include AW IMR 1600 (the 2000 variety works, too, but isn't as good for a mech), some Panasonics (CGR 18650 CH, NCR 18650 PD), Some Efest "IMR" types, Sony US18650V, V2, V3 and my favourite: Samsung INR18650-20R.
There are other, more exotic or rebranded types like MNKE and Surefire (The only trustworthy ...fire brand) that are ok to use.
In a battery for a mech mod you want to look at two main aspects: chemical safety and maximum amperage.
Chemical safety means that the battery might fail under certain conditions, but if it does, it will release hot and noxious, but not flammable gases. That rules out the LiPo type of battery and the ICR type of batteries - which are the most used ones. They can be made somewhat safe by adding an external circuit, like the Trustfire and Ultrafire brands do, but IF the battery fails, it will burn really quickly (thermal runaway).
Batteries that are safer because of the chemistry used are often called "safe chemistry" - well, let's call them "safer chemistry". Those do not necessarily need external protection, because if they fail, they will do a lot less harm when gassing out - but not burn as violently as ICR and LiPo.
There are several types of "safer chemistry" batteries today, the main and classic one being IMR. There are other proprietary chemistries, like the Panasonics that are rumored to use a complex Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminium Dioxide chemistry. Unfortunately many vendors don't really know a lot about the batteries they sell and just use "IMR" as a label for "safe chemistry".
Maximum amperage means that you want to be able to draw a lot of power from a cell - and it has to be build to deliver that. Battery manufacturers need to strike a design balance between maximum draw current (amperage) and power holding ability (mAh) - basically any battery that can hold a lot of power will not be able to sustain high discharge loads.
The cells we usually use are either designed for Powertools (Ultra High Drain) or for mobility (e-cars, e-bikes etc), those are usually high drain.
Sorry for the wall of text, but micro coils really can try a battery and everyone who goes below 1.4 Ohms on a coil needs to know about batteries.

fiddles you can safely use these batteries: Panasonic (grey ) CGR18650CH, they are safe to use a low ohms. Thanks Jeff added to shopping list

1st one to post pics of a working evod micro coil wins! What do I Win ?? I don't like evods much so I thought lets try it Started with 8 tight wraps of .20 kanthal, heated whilst held & ended up with Added cotton I also added small piece of cotton along top came in at 1.3 ohms, no leaks (yet) , vapes well good flavour too Edit something wasn't quite right took apart removed top piece of cotton wool now vapes even better

Superb fiddles, I really believe the micro coil and cotton brings something new and exciting to the vaping world, for me it defo enhances the flavour, vapour and the fun of this hobby that is vaping. You have proved that from large to small, from cheap to expensive, all atties can accommodate this exciting technique.

Not so interested in it's application in an evod because I don't really like them myself but, at least I know it will work in my vapeonly bcc mega I just wish I knew what type of wire I have got.

Just made two microcoils up for the Ithaka with 2mm ekowool, aimed for 1ohm dual coils and nailed it... lol Vaping like a champ too. this x2..

Just tried a microcoil on one of my Spheroids, 7 wraps of .25 Kanthal using 1 mm. Ekowool pulled through the coil but it is either being choked by the coil or it is just not wicking fast enough. Removed and started afresh, again 7 wraps .25 Kanthal and this time with cotton wool, came in at 1.8ohms. Pulled it through the coil with enough length to twist to make it more string like but held the wool just above the coil as I wanted that part to remain fluffy, then formed a rough loop and shoved it up to the filling. Never really expected it to work as I thought the cotton wool would fall away from the serra/Jewel filler but to my surprise it is vaping like a train. The most noticeable thing I have found with the Microcoil and cotton wool has got to be the flavour of the juice. The taste of my ODPVC, Thealchemist`s coconut ice and my Pixiejuice Choc Chip Ice Cream have never tasted quite this good even with Ecowool. Cotton wool definitely gives a much cleaner taste. Have ordered some .30 Kanthal from The Vape Mesh company to try and I will also order some Bamboo wool as advised by Chris above. I've just copied what you described greigster, seven wraps of .25 .... I used a 2mm screwdriver to wrap around so it came in at 1.9- 2 ohms Teased through the cotton wool about the size of a match ... lightly rolled up. This is beautiful! I am having double love for vaping today.. Spheroid and this set up. The flavour is immense and there's plenty of vapour for a 2 ohm coil. I have some .30 coming in the post as well, hopefully tomorrow.... Oh God.. When will it end?? Hehe Thanks again j.

update on the evod micro coil
it works but it does need extra bit on top of coil (like original) if not it leaks through battery connection when vaping. I have it in to soak as liquid went everywhere but will try it again using a piece of ekowool on top
