My first mix...

Hi,

I seem to be having some issue with my Irn Brew concentrate (Cupcake World). I just get no flavour off it at all. I made up a mix with 15% Flavour concentrate, and there was just no flavour coming through at all. I then made another mix up at 25% and still no flavour coming through. This has been left to steep for 1 week, and still nothing. I was under the impression that 25% would be a lot.

Is it possible that these flavours go off? Or that I just have a bad batch? Or am I missing some important ingredient? There is just no flavour at all, even at 25%...

Any ideas?

I have never used Irn Brew nor do i have it but @ 25% i would think there must be some sort of taste

Forgot to say xs2man, finger taste the flavor directly from the concentrate, it won't harm you as it's only a flavoring and see if you can taste anything and if it is potent or not.

As Rom says Xs2 . . . I do that with all my flavourings, give them the ' lick test ' . . . whilst it's not hard and fast as a gauge it does give you some inkling to their strength.

That said, although very nice I do find a number of CCW's flavours to be very weak for my tastes and just them as a straight dilutent with my nicotine base. I've no idea if the Irn Brew is similar, as it's not one I've used.

I tried that at 20% - no flavour at all aside from vaguely sweet, gave it up as a bad job I'm afraid.

Yeah, did a lick taste, and even then it is only vaguely sweet, as put previously.  I even took my original batch (thankfully only 8ml) put 1ml in a tank along with another 1ml of pure concentrate (after upping the mix to approximately 50%, so roughly 75% flavour by this time), leaving it for a while, and still absolutely no flavour at all.  Have now put another 3.5ml of "concentrate" in with the roughly 6.5-7ml left (@50%), and will leave to steep for a week or so, but I fear it will make no difference at all.

Think I'll just bin this and try another vendor. Hopefully I can find a concentrate that works. Unlikely to use that vendor again I fear.

Not the vendor, more than likely the concentrate.

Not the vendor, more than likely the concentrate.

As Rom . . . some of CCW's flavours are weak Xs2, don't let that put you off the Vendor you bought from.

Yeah it does sound like this flavoring is not up to par.
Just my 2 cents/pence, Sometimes less is more (flav %) and if you are using Vodka or PGA, it can mute the flavoring.
