I'm writing an article on electronic cigarettes and am interested in common terminology, I'd appreciate your input here. This board is proving to be very useful for research. Thanks in advance

I prefer eliquid (bit uncomfortable with using the word juice but that really is just me) What angle is the article your writing coming from?

Thanks for your input It's going to be promoting the use of electronic cigarettes as a non harmful alternative to smoking. Most of it will focus on the 2016 legislation and will be a point by point rebuttal of claims made by various anti-smoking pressure groups

I use Eliquid, Juice, and Fuel pretty much interchangeably - with juice probably most often - never eJuice tho

I will do provided my employer is happy for me to do so. I'm sure it won't be a problem.
If you have time could you tell me if you think there are any upsides to regulation of this market?
So far my thinking is that a regulated market for these products could mean higher quality and consistency products for end users. Do you think this would be worth a trade off in terms of pricing or do you think the market is perfectly capable of regulating itself in this regard (i.e. consumers will seek out and find the best quality products available and less reputable vendors will fail)?

It's called juice in our house, but online refer to it as e-liquid. Good luck with the promoting the use of electronic cigarettes as a non harmful alternative to smoking report.

I think regulation in some form or another is inevitable, but is it going to improve quality of whats out there? Only need to look at the cigarette market to see whats going to happen under regulation and that is a massive underground marketplace of some very suspect products in circulation on the black market.(since stopping smoking i ve discovered that alot of the black market cigarettes out there are grown in back yards and produced with no quality control whatsoever(look up home grown tobacco for cigarettes) My impression is there are two e cig markets out there 1) the newbie that is buying into the overpriced ecigalike market and and 2) the seasoned vaper that will know exactly what they are buying and will quickly sort the good from the bad ( so no to regulation but a very big yes to positive advertising of the quality(and cheaper) end of the market, get as many smokers on board as possible, a more functional entry level e cig process to move from the high street brands to the vastly superior products you will see here(entry level is so important, as like others here i dont frown on my original e cig choice as it was a stepping stone to where im at now...id just like better options to get people interested There also seems to be a unique relationship between quality suppliers and customers that i ve not really seen outwith niche hobby type vendors which builds up a trust in the supplier and also frankly keeps the supplier in check(although most of the good ones do seem genuinely interested in their product and getting it right. Just a few scrambled thoughts before i have to go but you ll get some great input from others way more qualified cheers Ps there is a link somewhere posted in the last few days to the latest findings on e cig safety that might be worth you looking up

Any upsides to the PROPOSED regulation of this market ? No. We can already purchase better quality items and liquid as good as pharma grade. Any device that goes through for MA will be a dinosaur in terms of what is available. Have a look at the recent VYPE release that is possibly one.

No, nothing good can ever come from medical regulation, only lower standards of stuff we already have freely available.

No, nothing good can ever come from medical regulation, only lower standards of stuff we already have freely available. And at greater cost. Self regulation is basically in effect already. As said previously, the more unscrupulous vendors will slowly die off as lessons are learned, and better vendors tracked down by the inexperienced. Having said that, the other day I was in my local vape shop (I say local, its 28 miles away, lol). And some of the customers in there probably wouldn't go hunting down vendors on the internet. Luckily, the shop seemed quite clued up, and, despite the cheaper looking clearos they sold, their eliquid seems to be pretty well made. All correctly labelled, professional looking stuff. However, being the only vape shop in town may allow you to take certain liberties. I don't think this was the case in this instance, but I could see where it could happen. This is where some sort of regulation may be beneficial. I'm not talking about on a pricing basis either. A shop in town has overheads an online bussiness won't have, and I'll be happy to pay a little more for the product to help out a local vendor in this market. But more on a quality basis.

A regulated market already exists - self-regulated If folk wish to find a 'reputable' vendor then ECITA regulations are fairly strict - and TW also adhere to a high standard. The main thing regulation will do is reduce variety and make unobtainable or put out of business some very reputable juice vendors. Tami at Mom and Pop Vapor Shop for instance is really 'OCD' about cleanliness and quality in general - but may not be 'legal' to be sold if UK regulations are enforced - and me ADV (All Day Vape) is M+P's Tobacco Praze - which would deny me something from an otherwise reputable and trusted vendor

As for benefits to medicinal regulation, I'd rather take my chances with things as they are. What is upcoming in 2016 is losing a lot (99% of my liquid) to get rid of the odd rogue dodgy e-liquid source. The silver lining idea is frankly flawed.
