Hello I'm a newbie and need help!

Hi I'm new to the forum and need a little advice.I have been vaping for 2weeks 3days 9hours with no stinky real ciggies.I ordered a kit from a company which had an ego w and a 510 with e juices included.The 510 was junk I think maybe faulty but the ego is great as soon as I started vaping I have had no craving or need for a "real cig"(partner has done the same).We have been smoking for longer than I care to say!about 25/30 a day each!yuk!Anyway the e juice that came with the kit was great 18mg 6 assorted flavours the only one neither of us liked was tobacco(weird I know!).Well we were running low and someone recommended a company called go4smoke for the juices so I ordered two(only 1 delivered but thats another story)the one juice that arrived is nothing like the others we had.In fact it's really not nice the flavour is apple & blackberry.Is it a bad flavour or are some companies juices better.This stuff smells of burning and tastes like I'm vaping dirty socks with bubbles!I hope this isn't my taste buds changing as the other juices tasted fine?any ideas?

Heya Stellar,

Before I started making my own juice (just sticking to 12mg menthol flavor now until I die) I've tried a lot of different flavours.
I can assure you that in your discovery of new juices you will be coming across a shitload of bad smelling and tasting juices. It's just like food, some things you like, some you won't but others might.

I can only encourage you to try an assortment of different flavors and also different brands/vendors and there is a lot of difference between juices.
I really like cherry and I've tried around 10 different juices which state it is "cherry" and only found that I liked one of them so I simply didn't order the others anymore and vaped away with the cherry flavor that I liked.

A lot of sites/vendors will be selling sample bottles of only 5ml so you can try a lot of different flavors without ending up with a bunch of half empty bottles.
I also do not like the tobacco flavors as I honestly did not smoke normal cigarets for their great taste

I can however recommend you to get a small (10ml) bottle of menthol flavor. (just menthol, no other flavors added).
I've tried a bunch of different menthol flavors out there and must say that none of them really disappointed me.

That will give you a bailout in case you ordered some other juices that you don't really like and thus keep you away from those nasty real cigarettes

Hi & Stellar24 It could be your tastebuds as mine changed when i was approx 2 weeks in to vaping its called vapers tongue, one of the best juices you can get is menthol as its a palette cleanser & the only thing you can taste when you have those days, if you don't like it on its own try adding a few drops to something else to give it a bit of kick.
Don't throw any juices away yet though because what you don't like this week could be the one you love in another few weeks
Theres a vendors board in the Absolute beginners section with discount codes that you will find lots of vendors to choose from & as everyones tastes are different what may taste nice to one person may taste awful to someone else.
Just don't buy in huge amounts until you settle down & know what you like, a few vendors do 5ml samplers but i cannot remember them offhand, however JooseJuice sell 10ml bottles for just £1-49 which is enough to pay if you end up not using any.

If the eliquid you've had has been freshly mixed then it may need a little time to steep/infuse before it's at its best.

Thankyou for the warm welcome and advice.I quite like menthol and minty flavours but didn't think about trying a menthol e juice so I'll have to look at ordering some.I think its a mixture of being spoilt by getting really nice juices in the starter kit and my taste buds changing as well.I'll have a look JooseJuice as I need a good supply for next week as we're away on holiday.Partner has major health issues 17 tablets a day for bp and heart so I really need him to stay on the vaping wagon!We're keeping every penny saved in a jar each as a extra incentive and I can't believe how much money literally went up in smoke so even though I like to save a penny it's worth finding good stuff to puff!

hmm more advice pg/vg ratio?I just checked and the original bottles I have don't say but the one that tastes bad is 70/30?I like a throat hit do I go for 50/50 on joosejuice or choose maybe 4 different types of pg/vg to see if maybe thats why this juice tastes bad and Thanks!!!!

Basically (and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong)

100% PG gives better flavor (thinner juice)
100% GV gives more smoke and smoother flavor (thicker juice)

I recon throat hit mostly comes from how strong the liquid is (nicotine wise) but not 100% sure

So people just mix it up to get the best of both worlds.


I'm currently at a 70(vg)/30(pg) juice which give me nice smoke creation as I am a "look at how much smoke comes out of my mouth attention whore"
And the nature of menthol being a strong "flavor" makes this juice combo work very well.

I'd maybe mix it up a little Stellar, see which you prefer right now.

As testdruif posted, a higher percentage of PG increases Throat Hit (TH) and taste, whereas VG increases the amount of vapour produced.
Joosejuice are a new company but are producing some great flavours at the moment, with extremely good prices to boot.
They will give you the chance to try out different flavours, at different strengths and ratios of PG/VG, and if you like a flavour, they are doing a BOGOF at the moment, e.g. if you buy 30ml of Blackcurrant for instance, they will throw in another bottle at the same mix and nic level. Bargain!

I always preferred whatever was cheapest must admit, smoking 40/50 a day, I tasted very little and couldn't bear the tobacco taste in my mouth anyway. But you're right Stellar, a lot will come down to personal preference, which you don't know unless you experiment.

Plus you may find your tastes change over time, so buying smaller bottle sizes initially is the best way to find out.

Just to clarify what chykensa said about the BOGOF that Juice-juice are doing. It's only on their 30ml bottles, there isn't a BOGOF on their 10ml tasters.
