Im doing exactly the same as Blakey. Its the new, thicker Royal Smoker wick Steve.A few of the clearos i sent you have the thicker CE2 wick on,thats what we are using. Its my favourite wick for the RTA as it gives the same flavour as the Bulli stuff, works from the off and fills the holes so very well which slows the flow of the juice down a bit.It also cleans and dry burns snowy white which obviously prolongs the life of each coil.Sod it,im off to check if any more is left on Cams site leave some for us Ian LOL

I've read this post a few times now and to be honest it's all beyond me. Boiling wicks n tanks just make my head slightly sore I wish I could get it cause it all seems to make your vaping experience better

We have to make a coil and wick assembly and we were having problems with the wick, hence the wick discussion.

I'll try the CE2 wick very soon, as my RTA is overdue a clean and re-wick. All of the CE2s that I've stripped have had the thick wick, so I've got plenty to try. In fact, I hadn't seen the multi-stranded CE2s before.
I've got a couple of short CE2s in tanks to use when I'm out, and they do, indeed, clean up nicely with a wash and dry burn, so the wick is good stuff.

in regards to the RTA wick a soak and a pre burn is a plus then whats is the consensus on prefered wick Tim's bulk buy (which thickness?) vs CE2 then guys ? Just re-reading through this and I realised that I never fully answered your question, of the group buy wick it makes little difference which size you buy as you reduce it to single strands when making and fitting a coil so each wick once reduced to individual strands is the same. One 3inch length of the 1ml wick will have 4 strands and one 3inch length of the 3ml wick will have 12 strands. The 1ml wick is what clockworks packs in with the RTA. Raw veg,s video tutorial shows exactly how this is achieved. When you factor the amount of wick assembleys you can actually make from a single length then the group buy wick proves to be very cost effective. I bought 10 meters of the 3ml wick which equates to 30meters of the 1ml wick, Probably a good few years supply.

For anyone following this thread wondering if this ever got resolved, the soak/boil then a dry burn before use completely removes any funky tastes from this wick. The RTA itself is in a league of its own as far as performance goes, A simply remarkable vape. Anyone put off by the wick discussion can be assured that it is no way anything to do with the RTA itself and if you don't fancy using the wick supplied then bulli wick or CE2 wick work exceptionally well. But the supplied wick can be every bit as good. I think it should also be noted that not everyone has experienced this funky taste issue and it does seem to depend on the type of juice used.

Clockworks - I've just caught up with this (I'm a real newcomer to all this) and am fascinated with this idea. Am I too late or is it possible to still get one of your RTA's?

Great, thanks clockworks. I would greatly appreciate a recommendation from the experts here who are already using this as to what my best bet would be for getting some wick and some wire, bearing in mind my extreme novice status! I would like to get a bit of stock in ready and will be studying the videos carefully!

I would like to get a bit of stock in ready and will be studying the videos carefully! It comes with some wick and wire supplied, read through this thread and have a look at the links as some are tutorials. Once you know what res you need the coil to be then we can advise on the appropriate wire. Using my phone at the moment, so can't add links. A few posts up will show you which wick we prefer.

Thanks Blakey. I had gathered from the above that the best bet is the "group buy" wick but not sure what that means and how to get involved with it? Alternatively there is the CE2 wick but I cannot find anyone who supplies that. From what I have read I think the 0.20mm wire looks to be the best bet as it gives more flexibility in terms of resistance without having to go down to too few turns of the coil. I have seen references to wire.co.uk as a possible supplier but maybe the Kanthal is a better bet? If so who would supply that? Sorry, but this is all a steep learning curve for me!
