Hello all! I've been a smoker since the age of 14 (yes, very naughty !) and am now 43. I used to smoke tailors, but have smoked about 20 filtered Golden Virginia roll-ups a day for the past 6 years. I was talking to my hairdresser the other day, who said she hadn't smoked since Christmas and showed me her VIP e-cigarette and let me have a drag on it, which I was very impressed with! I've stopped smoking twice, for six months, over the years. The first time by cold turkey and the second with patches, but ended up falling off the waggon, whilst on a night out! I'd love to stop smoking, as I'm getting out of breath just walking up the stairs and am feeling pretty enslaved to it. I do still enjoy it, but am realising more and more that it's having a bad effect on my health. I'd love to stop smoking for good and think that an e-cigarette would help me more than other nicotine replacement therapies, as you feel like you're smoking, so (hopefully) don't feel as though you're missing out! Could anyone please recommend a good e-cigarette, which would be as similar to the taste and "hit" as smoking a filtered Golden Virginia roll-up? Many thanks!

Hello & welcome Wispy If you don't mind an e-cig that's a bit bigger than a real cig, then a Riva510 is a great one to start with (much better than your hairdressers VIP). I'll check out the best deals at the moment & come back with a link for you. You aren't going to get anything that tastes exactly like a golden virginia roll up but you will certainly get a good hit & plenty of vapour from a Riva.

Hello & a warm welcome from me Wispy. As Chris says, a Riva510 would be a great ecig to start with, that's the one many of us started with and it's difficult to better.

Hi Wispy, just to echo what has already been said, a good all round starter is the Riva 510. I was a smoker for 36 years, like yourself moving over to roll ups to save money. I never thought I'd stop smoking, but have been smoke free for over a year now and never looked back. I started with a Riva 510 and still use it quite often now. Good luck

Hi wispy... All other NRT's made me psychotic....am off cigs with the e-cig...No one can believe it... Seriously get the riva (should last you most of the day between charges) ....you won't regret it Flavour wise I barely miss it right....a few days on e-cig and you'll never go back..... I did try (when having charger probs) about 2 days on gold leaf rollies...2 days was enough!!! Chesty, coughy nauseaus...naw thanks... So yeah go for it and show off your Riva 501 next time you get your locks done.... I have some vape cards should you need them just pm me... Now I vape everywhere - even at the front of the bus.... Jo

Hi whispy and welcome to the forum. You could do a lot worse than try OKSmokey's 'roll-up' flavours; I tried Drum and Old Holborn (Double Flavour) and they're pretty good facsimiles. www.oksmokey.com/Fox

Grizwald's 666 to be released this weekend from Vape Escape, is I've to say a darn good 'cigarette' flavour.
French Pipe from OK Smokey was another great tabac favourite of mine.

Hello & welcome Wispy I new here too and it's great reading all the replies you've got. The Riva 510 has been well recommended here but I haven't a clue what it is.,,,I'm about to check it out though. I have a Joye Ego and use low resistance cartomizers and that's working fine for me.

Sellaman, the Riva 510 is just a cheaper priced copy of the Joye Ego

In fact if the review of the batteries I watched the other day is anything to go by, the Riva 510 is a JOYE battery LOL

Hello and welcome to the forum.
When I started out I had a cig look a like, like what your hairdresser has. I quickly wanted something else and I was lucky enough to win an Echo 650 in a competition on this forum. I wish i'd started with it it's brilliant but as a first e-cig i'd be inclined to say go with the Riva as the 510 screw thread fitting will be more compatible with the various products on the market.

Thank you all so much for your helpful replies. I'm going to try the Riva 510, as many of you seem to rate it so much! I was a little disappointed when I saw it, as it looks nothing like a real cigarette, which was what I was originally looking for, but I'm sure I'll get used to it . Will let you know how I get on with it, but haven't ordered it yet! Thank you all again. It's very much appreciated .
