All my tanks are running 1.8omh heads (BC) but reading 2.0 on my Zmax, anything over over 7w and they taste burnt very quickly. Is this the best I can get or can I change it to make things better?
I have some wick and coil due in the post in a couple of days and as ekowool has a higher burn point I am going to try that?
I enjoy the vape at 7.5w but it soon turns to a burnt taste and lasts no longer than 3 really good draws. (no good for chain vaping)
Any advice would be appreciated.

Seems you have a wicking problem, does it happen with a mew head? There is always a point at which it will taste burnt though.

Maybe a 2.4 ohm head would've been better for you. I used to vape at 8.5 - 9 watts with those.

Definitely sounds like a wicking issue.. what tank are you using? Some bottom coil devices benefit from removing the "flavour wick"(piece of wick material sitting on top of coil) if wicking is an issue.. (evods, protanks, etc) Have you tried a different head with higher resistance? I prefer a head with a resistance of more than 2.2ohms with bottom coils as it gives a slightly rounder vape..

What do you dislike about vaping at 7w ginge7289 ? If the sweet spot for that particular atty resistance / ejuice combination is 7w then surely that is what it's all about. I find my personal sweet spot around 6w for single coil atties and 8.5w for double coil atties. Vaping at low or high wattage is an individual taste thing. That said, I confer with the other replies that the burnt taste is probably more down to a wicking problem. EDIT: Just noticed that you are a new member - welcome!

Welcome to you Ginge. Nothing further to add really to the excellent advice already given . . . though the juice you use could also make a difference to the wattage it's enjoyable to vape at. If I use VW, it's anything from 6.5-8.5watts.

It might be the flavour, I have rejected a couple of flavourings I otherwise like, because they burn too easily

Thanks for the reply guys, im running them in a protank 2. Its not that I don't like the vape at 7w but if I dial upto to 7.5w the flavour is better, I have had it upto 8w but the burning is to noticeable from the start. This happens with new heads and cleaned heads. I have also tried removing the flavour wick but it tends to flood. Im running Black cat at the moment which is a thick juice so that could be slowing the wicking process? I guess that leaves me only a couple of options, change the resistance of my head and I will try ekowool instead of silica and see how that works out. Unless anyone else has some ideas? Thanks for the welcome

Only being able to vape at low watts before getting a burnt taste is most likely a wick issue but could also be a coil. If the coil gets too hot and starts to glow then it gives a nasty flavour. If its getting enough juice then the evaporating keeps the coil temp down, but a hot spot can always concentrate the heat above the evaporations ability to cool it.
I use genesis style atomisers and when I check ohms law to see the watts I prefer it comes out at around the 20W mark. I just need to refine my wick a touch and give 25W a go next.

Slow steady inhale gives more flavour than a quick harsh inhale for me.. especially with 50/50 juice..
