Rsst first build.

So put a silica wick build in the new rsst last night, everything was going well, 1.3ohm coil, no hot spots, coil heating nice and evenly. Great, filled the beast, left it for 5 minutes to soak up the juice and away i vaped, wow it ripped my throat to pieces, took the cap off and fired it as another check and the coil was not heating evenly and either the wick or juice had a dam flame!!!!!!!!!

As it was fairly late and i was tired i thought leave it and come back to it this morning, picked it up this morning and the thing is vaping like a dream this morning.

Is this normal? Does the coil need time to settle in?

I can't give you any sound advice on this one as I'm new to coiling.

But I can say I've had the same thing happen

Lol. No wonder my throat was ripped apart i was inhaling a flame lol.

Hope somebody can explain this.

Same here matt. Can coil heads but this is my first rba build.

same thing happened to me FLAMES ,,

only thing i put it down to was to tightly wraped the coil or not burning the wire off first

i now allways flame the wire first ,,and do a few dry burns before i add any juice

not happened to me since doing that

I did burn the wire off moose, second nature to do that.

Mad that a few of us have had the same thing.

I built mine using mesh so not a lot of help, but sounds like the wick wasn't saturated enough, must have been hot to flame though.
Never had a protank coil flame either even when dry burning.
