Hello again! After my first thread asking for advice on upgrading from CE4/Ego, I decided on a Vamo and this is what I bought link Thanks chykensa I'm loving it so far even though it is way bigger than I thought it would be lol! I just have a couple of queries: I want to buy some spare batteries and I'm just browsing Fasttech, again, and I'm not sure what to buy, there seem to be about 3 million to choose from I have 18650 ones that came with the kit, they are meant to be Sony but not sure they are! Never mind, they work, but I want to get some good spares. What does 'protected' mean? Any help would be great! Also, I've tried using it with a Protank, mini protank and a DCT thingy I bought from FT link The mini protank and the DCT both work ok (except I can't get the drip tip to stay on the DCT but that's another story I guess!). With the Protank, I get a lot of gurgling and have had a mouthful of juice a few times, yuk. I've replaced the heads a couple of times and tried different voltages but it still does it. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong. I've found if I screw the Protank on so that it's flush I can't vape it at all, so I have loosened it so there is a couple of mm gap. I'm rambling a bit now so i will shut up after apologising for a rather long thread! Thanks in advance for any advice Sal xx

Hi Sal, for batteries I have been getting mine from ukecigcbin. I have the Efest 18650 and 18350 (red ones) both button tops, I also bought a Panasonic 18650 last time which I am very happy with. I run a protank with my Vamo and haven't had any problems. The protank has air channels in the base so airflow shouldn't be. A prob if it's screwed all the way down, if you have unscrewed it slightly maybe it's not making a proper connection to the mod so the coil isn't heating up causing you to get juice coming up I would double check that the head is properly screwed into the base and you get a resistance value when you hold down the right button. Not sure if that helps but let us know how you get on

As far as batteries go you don't need peotected batteries in a vamo as it has its own protection. Protected batteries are used in mechanical mods which have no inbuilt protection from shorts etc. I use the Panasonic batteries in my mods amd they are fantastic. click meProtank... Gurgling and spitting is from overfilling generally.. always filled mine 3/4 full to prevent this.. you'll need to clean any juice out of the airtube. You say you've changed the heads.. did you remove anything? Also make sure the airtube of the head is tight!! Does the base have two grooves in it? They are there to allow you to screw it right down but maintain airflow..

It's possible that your particular pro tanks air hole is being restricted on the vamo. With any bottom coil device the airflow affects how the juice wicks. If its restricted, or if you do a fast draw, the air speed increases, faster moving Air has a lower pressure than still air. As the air in your tank is still, it will have a constant pressure.
The reason this matters is because it is that difference in pressure that helps to push juice Into your wick. So if you are getting flooding there are a couple of things you can try. If you can reposition things to allow fora the maximum airflow then that should help, The other is a slower lighter drag perhaps even not fully sealing your lips around the mouthpiece.

@ sal First thing is that your links are not working. Regarding fasttech batteries they do some very good 18650 Panasonic batteries which will suit the vamo www.fasttech.com/products/0/10001980/1141100-panasonic-ncr18650b-rechargeable-3400mah-3-7v These are unprotected batteries which is what the vamo requires as the mod itself has inbuilt protection. Protected batteries are only for mechanical mods that have no inbuilt protection. Fasttech don't do any decent 18350 batteries , only rubbish ultrafire and trustfire (the fire gives you a clue!). The sony batteries that came with your kit probably are genuine sony as not all sony and panasonic batteries are marked as such. Regarding the protank, gapy360 is right about the loosening off of the tank probably causing the gurgling. Regarding not getting a draw when screwed down , do you mean that the draw is impossibly tight or that the atty is not firing? If not firing and you have tried it with a few heads this would indicate a connection problem between the protank and the 510 connector on the vamo. If just an impossibly tight draw then I am at a loss unless the airway is blocked somehow.

Thanks again

I only really fill the Protank half full unless I'm going out for ages, so I don't think it's that, I've cleaned the air tube (why don't they make long handled, slimline cotton buds?? LOL) and that has helped a lot. I don't think I removed anything that I didn't then replace The base has two grooves, I am not sure what I did but I clearly did something wrong, however it seems better now so thank you for all your help Sal

Hello @freefromsmoking Thank you for the link, that's 2 votes for those so I shall get them I think as there are a few more things I want to try from FT! Thanks too for explaining about protected batteries, makes sense now. Re the Protank, at first i wasn't getting any draw at all! I think I must have made a mistake putting it all back together as it seems better now. There is so much to learn but thanks to all you helpful and lovely people I feel as if I am getting there Many thanks again for taking the time to help me

Glad we could help in some way, like you say there is so much to learn, I've been vaping for about 19 months now and am still learning. Regarding your reading of the ohms for the head that sounds about right. Getting that indicates two things, 1-the head is connected to the Vamo ok. 2-the head does not have a short, if it did it would read 9.9 The only reason I suggested ecig Cabin was you could get the batteries in a day or two rather than the 2 weeks odd from FT

I have two batteries, that came with the Vamo so I hope I'll be alright for a while, it was just that I thought if I was ordering from FT anyway I'd get some more. It is very useful to know somewhere good here though in case I need some fast! Sal

I know what you mean about Fasttech, I should never have looked at that site, I spend hours looking through thinking 'that looks cool' and before I know it there is £50 worth in my cart! The worst of it is that I don't even know what half of the stuff is yet, though I am learning fast Sal

Hello again! After my first thread asking for advice on upgrading from CE4/Ego, I decided on a Vamo and this is what I bought link Thanks chykensa (except I can't get the drip tip to stay on the DCT but that's another story I guess!) Glad you are pleased with the Vamo, Sal, I still love mine! You have had plenty of advice on batteries, and I too use the unprotected Panasonics from FT, so nothing new to offer! I have found that not all drip tips are equal - it might be worth trying another one in the DCT as another make might fit a bit more snugly. You can pick up plastic or anodised aluminium ones from many vendors for 2 or 3 quid.
