Nice to get some positive thinking from the authorities for a change --- the message is getting across?

So ..... doesn't that mean that e-cigs don't work? I am 100% sure that e-cigs are many times more effective than patches. For a start I know a few people that gave up smoking by accident with e-cigs .... never going to happen with patches

The study was crippled. 1 carto a day on a cigalike was all they were allowed and the study has been done over two years I believe so E-cigs were nothing like as good as they are now.

Rubbish!! Ecigs aren't as effective as patches! Ecigs blow patches clear out of the water in terms of effectiveness! The only thing I got from patches was broken sleep due to constant nightmares and huge weals on my skin from the adhesive!

I had sensitive skin after using patches.....and I didn't give up cigs after the prescribed course

After the adverse effects of a numbness in my arm and a burning red patch where the patch was I was advised to not use patches after 7 hours into day 1.

Now someone leave some positive comments ...I personally tried to but it was too much of a faff I used to hear voices and go completely loopy on NRT because it was never strong enough!!!... The spray wrecked my nose But....well....2 years on e-cigs + 6oz of tobacco (I was an oz a day girl before I discovered e-cigs)...no cost to the NHS and sorted.... What can I say? In every way health is improving

I did manage to give up once on patches for two years. It's was a miserable few months on patches to "cure" my addiction - it was more the girlfriend at the time threatening to leave me if I smoked than the patches that broke the habit. Once I kicked her out for cheating on me two years later the first thing I did was went out to buy a packet of Embassy #1 to celebrate being out of an abusive relationship. That was 12 years ago and I smoked up until I took up vaping last year.

Comments have started appearing on the BBC link. Not mine yet but I'm hopeful.

I'm well aware of that. But in the light of anti vaping campaign in mainstream media and of many gov/health officials, every write up like this article feels like enlightenment. Lets hope they finally do a study on proper/advanced devices.
