I've emailed David to ask if he'd ship the Provari with a value of $20 It really sticks in my throat the thought of customs charges on top of the price, robbing barstewards

Go for it Lilac . . . it is a cracking mod! I also went for the expensive shipping option, which proved to be a bit of a waste . . . 3 days from the US to UK, 8 days in Customs . . . but the wait was well worth it! The odd thing, I phoned Parcelforce when it finally cleared and the woman said I needed to pay duty . . . it was then delivered with a big sticker on the box saying - not to be delivered until duty had been paid. Which I hadn't and still haven't . . . but a letter could still be coming my way I suppose.

Lol, I'm glad you got away with it, I get put on the job of writing the cards out for customs charges at work sometimes and I hate it, as if they aren't making enough money already, I know mine wont be getting written out it'll be goin straight in the bin

Lilac, David said he would ship mine as a gift perhaps he can do the same for you? I don't really care about customs charges.... What really upsets me is the fact I may have to pay +23% of the price in VAT ! :s o0 GOD BLESS EU !

My Guardian Angel must have been looking out for me that day Curtis. The irksome part of the Customs duty, isn't so much the VAT levied, but the additional £13.50 handling charge. When you've already paid to have it delivered to your door!

It is cheeky Perpy and and a real money spinner for royal mail aswell, it's like if you under pay postage on a letter now by 22p they charge you 1.22p for the £1 handling fee, scandalous!!

Seems to me that RM and / or Parcelforce make these charges up almost arbitrarily.
Perpy had a RM 'mishandling' fee of £13.50, on 'another forum' it was £14, mine was £8..?
Perhaps a trainee was the one who tore into my box...i'll rephrase that i think...who ripped my package to shreds...err..

Agree there Spikey, these excess charges are made up as they go along it would appear, considering we all had the same value declared on our parcels.

Ah well, it was worth it in the end.

Different companies have different fees. Royal Mail is around £8, Parcelforce is £13-odd.

It drives me nuts if my purchase + p&p is just over the threshold and I get an £8-£11 handling charge for customs charge of pennies >
