Well unfortunately, Scottish hospitals seem to be going the other way....most of the reason i started vaping was to avoid having to go outside to smoke while on nightshift...now it's banned inside the hospital, for the whole of Ayrshire & Arran

I've got 4 weeks free insurance Ellen, but i'm hopeful the antibiotic, plus changing him to wet food with dry as a back up when i'm working, will sort him out, i certainly hope so, he's such a loveable little tyke, lol

He said if it doesn't clear up, he'd need a sample to see what was going on...when i said he'd just been neutered on friday, he said it could be the dehydrating effects of the anaesthetic, coupled with not making up the shortfall of fluid mainly cos he's on dry food, plus new house/people/Murphy...
I've been putting an ice cube in his water dish as that always makes the pups drink more, seems to work fairly well for him too, plus i got him some pouches of wet food which i add water to, to try to flush him out...
he's a poor wee soul to have this happen to him so young, my friend thinks i should give him back to the breeder and ask for a kitten from a future litter, in case this means he's going to have problems, but he's such a wee darling (when he's not peeing all over the place, that is...)

Thats a really good idea Pam, think i'll do that for Murphy & maybe Oscar as well, altho i had been planning to keep him insured. My vet is fairly easy going about raw feeding, mostly i think, on account of seeing Tyson's horrible coat problems clearing up after a few weeks on raw...it's such a shame more vets aren't open to considering raw as an option for feeding...

The vet gave his bladder a wee squeeze and saw for himself how bloody it was, so he gave him an antibiotic injection, hopefully make him feel a lot better soon... thanks for all the advice, feeling a bit out of my depth at the mo I'm hoping he doesn't have problems in the waterworks department, and this is a one off...what are your thoughts, people? xx

Aww...Nobbys a lovely cuddly looking kitty 😀 I stopped raw feeding when Tyson died Lynn, it was getting to be really hard to source good quality meat, I might think about it tho...

He's 15 weeks Lyn, they're all neutered before you get them, at least the 4 breeders within reasonable travelling distance to me all do it, cos i looked at all their websites before picking the closest one cos her kitties looked cutest, lol Yes, i think i'll take him, best idea, i think.. Ive been googling and stress has been mentioned as a cause, plus a few sites mention dry food can mean they're not getting enough water, he's on dry food, maybe an idea to change him to wet, do you think? Here's a pic of him on his bed on his cat tree..

Hi Ellen, he doesn't seem to be in any distress, he's playing & exploring and when he goes into his litterbox he seems to be passing urine with no problem...
I'm at the vet tomorrow anyway with my pug Murphy, i'll ask him about it then.

Thanks Hissie...
Ok, 1st question...altho he's mostly using his litter box, he has had a few accidents where he's peed elsewhere...
when i mopped it up, its like watery blood, i phoned the breeder, who says cystitis isn't unusual in times of stress and thats the most likely cause, altho it's a bit early, as we only got him this morning, and it's usually a couple of days after...
she said to keep an eye on it for a day or 2, then take him to the vet if it's not cleared up and get the bill sent to her.
he was neutered on friday, might that be anything to do with it?, i must say it's quite alarming.

Well i hope you don't have to wait as long as i have Han, lol When i searched my emails to get back in touch with the breeder, i was shocked to realise it was 2005 when i first went to see her kitties I've got him a nice big climbing/scratching thing, one of those track thingies with the ball in and a few dangly from stick things i got him a covered litter box (mainly to keep Murphy out of the litter) hope he's okay with it, should i leave the top off till he gets used to it, d'ya think, as the breeder uses normal ones? I'll have to give up my favorite flowers, Lilies, cos they're poisonous...i did look at a link to other harmful plants n cripes, there's loads on there.... which flowers are safe? Will he cry at night at first, like puppies do? should i take him into my room at night, or would that cause problems later cos i want to cuddle Gordon in bed, not the cat? oooh...loads of questions...will he try to sneak out all the time? i remember i was looking after my son's cat for a week while they were on hols and the cat went out the open window onto the ledge!!! i nearly had a hairy canary!!! will i never be able to have open windows?
