Tell a lie i did make a microcoil before and judging by how this one come out i made it wrong Items Used:Pure Nickel Non-Resistance Wire - 0.20mm (200 Micron or 32 AWG) Kanthal A1 Heat Resistance Wire - 0.3mm (300 Micron or 28 AWG) Zapper 100% pure Cotton Atty used:Euforia How it went:
Making the coil was very easy with 0.3 compared too 0.2 Kanthal, twisted 8 wraps very tightly around a 3mm drill bit then removed from the drill bit and then placed onto tweezers and pinched the coil and flamed and cooled, done this 3 times. Once the coil was done i cut the end legs very close too the end of the coil and placed into the crocodile grips on the Zapper with legs pointing out. Got my non res wire and charged up the Zapper for about 7 seconds and joint the wires, they came out nice and secure (put a new charged battery in the zapper, think the one in it was low or something) Before this attempt at zapping was quite funny, i jumped out of my skin when i heard the pop noise Coil done and all wires zapped and secure, easy bit over with, well kinda easy Now getting the coil into the Euforia, don't know if many out there are familiar with the Euforia but there is not much room for a coil and this one was about 5mm wide and 3mm depth Got there in the end, it's all a learning curve so it's all good, next time will be even easier for sure. So now the Euforia is coiled and wired up and all fittings done Now for the cotton, 1st attempt the cotton was too thick so made a new one and that was easy peasy once i had the right thickness, it was a tight fit through the coil and nice and snug down the side chambers on the Euforia. Phew, all done and now ready to check the ohms ........... slapped it on the eVic and got 1.8ohms, just what i was looking for Wet the coils and test fired it, all working great Filled up the Euforia and let it sit for a bit for all to soak in etc etc....... End result:First vape.............Vape heaven, oh yes.....Vape heaven, the taste was great and the smoothness from the vape was shocking as normally the juice i tried can be a bit harsh but not this time. Taste was gorgeous, very tasty indeed, and shed loads of of vapor Piccy of the coil, don't laugh it is my real main try at this and i don't have masses amount of room too mess with Tease-smiley I would like to thank Greigster for the advice he gave and the posts he has contributed for this method and would like to also thank all the other members i have pestered on this forum (you know who you are ) Now i just have to coil the rest of my atty's

Excuse my ignorance, but rather than trawling through a very long thread let me just ask: are microcoils only for dripping, or is there something to learn for those of us who prefer tanks?

I do love the feeling of making my own coil, zapping it, wicking it, putting it all together, and most of all when it all works out well and i vape on something i made, great feeling

Great looking coil romelee. Especially in that tiny space. Question for you or our resident micro coil expert Greigster. If i got thick wire and did up the micro coil. Would it be possible to pull some doubled up silica through the coil without damaging it? Or is it best to use cotton? Right i need to find a super cheap blow torch now. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 I haven't done it personally but I did see grim green do that on a build, or may have been Ekowool he used. Piece of kanthal as a " threader" also on a linkn to a vid on making microcoils with thick wire, on a post I put on the Modders board about micro coils

Hey Rosco, I use .30 Kanthal for my micro-coils...the thicker the wire, the lower the resistance. This enables you to put more wraps without increasing your ohms excessively. The more wraps you have, the more wick you can heat. But there is a trade off for using thicker wire and that is it takes a little longer to heat from cold. The length of a wire determines the resistance, so a 100 mm length of wire will be the same resistance whether it is 1 wrap around a baked bean tin or 36 wraps around a pin. You will have to make the internal measurement based on what size wick you want to thread through. You cannot drag a 3mm. silicon wick through a coil wrapped around a 14 gauge needle without strangling the wick and that is if you could get the wick through such a small hole. That is where using cotton wool or bamboo wool is the way to go when using a micro-coil, they both compress when pulling through the coil without the worry of strangling the wick and with cotton wool, if you try and pull too much through, it just breaks. This is the gas torch that I got from Fasttech but they dont have them now but here is the same one on Ebay for about the same price also from the Far East, this is a great bit of kit and worth buying a couple to have one as a back-up. Cheers Neil Edit:- Oops forgot the link www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jet-Flame-Pencil-Butane-Gas-Refillable-Lighter-Torch-Fuel-Welding-Soldering-Pen-/261209631175?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item3cd14ea9c7

Super-ShinyWay to go m8, very tidy job indeed. Now just got to recoil half your attys? Out of interest, have you tried SS mesh instead of cotton, there was a post earlier about it and I thought it looked interesting. (but not worth the expense for myself) I'm not tight, just carefull!!
