Goooooooooood morning I am going to have a go at re-coiling my Atty. What size mesh would you suggest please as I want to achieve 2 ohms. Can you re-coil an Atty with Ekowool instead of mesh? As you can tell I am new to re-coiling I intend to use The Vape Mesh Company for my supplies. Griff

You can use silica in there if you struggle with the mesh

Griff Flame your 400 mesh well, roll it and flame it some more, put a straightened paper clip down the middle before you pop it in the hole and then wrap about 5 turns of .4mm ribbon round it, connect to the positive post take out the paperclip and test the resistance before you cut off the excess, if its too high or low you can lose or add another wrap. The hole on the cobra is quite small so the wick will be thin, hence leaving the paper clip (or what have you) in place to keep it stiff. Once you got it running you can trim off the top of the wick to tidy it up. The cobra is a great atty. I couldn't say I've noticed any real difference with 300 or 500 mesh either and personally I wouldn't recommend bothering trying them

I hope it goes well, you have jumped in the deep end a bit with one of the harder to set up gennies around. Some Cobra specific advice: the wick hole is small and threaded, you need to roll your wick small enough that it fits quite loosly. once you have the coil wound and fixed down you want to try and position the wick so that its hardly touching the sides and pull it up so that its not touching the bottom of the tank. I don't torch mesh wicks myself but it will make life a bit easier as a beginner with this one, I would suggest still using the pulse method to build up some oxidisation on the coil wire. that means either using minimum settings on a regulated device or a partially discharged battery on a mech mod. You want to get nice glowing coils before you add any juice. It very tempting to rush in with a few drops just to see some steam and then think its good to go. It is important that you get it all glowing nicely first because juice hides hot spots that will spoil the flavour later and lead to bigger problems.

markm thanks for your help and advise. Taking on board what you have said about jumping in at the deep end, which atty would you suggest for a beginner Griff

RSST, it has a tank with a base, removing the risk of shorting on the bottom of the tank, it has an insulated wick hole, so the only places the wick can cause shorting is with the wire itself. Its also a nice large deck with plenty of room to work. They are fairly cheep and easy to get and vape quite well for a budget device. I have several of them.
