Hi I am new to using Genny's after getting past the frustrating coil building, I have a couple of questions, how often should I clean the tank out as I've heard a good build can last ages? And what may be a silly question do I have to have a empty tank if I want to use another tank? Reason for asking is as with a cotton build you can leave for a couple of days & the cotton still has juice over it as a genny the coil is at the top & I assume the mesh is dry, is this a problem as it could be with cotton? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Hi mate, gennies are pretty old school nowadays, I keep one and a sheet of mesh for old times sake, but I'm buggered if Im gonna coil it any time soon! My experience anyways was that the wick would burn out, honestly it would degrade due to heat, the outer mesh would burn away slowly and that was at 15 watts! Flavourwipse they were great compared to what was available at the time,, but compared to a modern atty; not so at all. Advise from me is rinse out the tank when changing flavours then dry burn the coil. Be prepared to make a new wick weekly. change your cotton every two days, it sags. Gennies were great fun when the alternative was a Vivi nova, but nowadays a novelty imho

Fancy snafflig a fill of your ald mans pipe, must admit to nicking the odd cafe creme myself too, but I thought they just tasted of fish myself, bleurghhh!

Started on the odd No6 out of my dads packet, then Peter Stuyvesant! Cos my teacher used to smoke them and I thought he was cool ha ha! JPS then b&h, then silk cut until prices started going mad in the noughties, lambert and butler for ten years, a brief time on Mayfair then went on to drum tobacco on the duty free about 3 quid for 50g, then vaping three years ago, when I smell fags now I literally recoil, they're vile

I've also got a tesla nano coming, from FT, stock just landed so should be dispatched Monday hopefully it's been on order a fortnight????, I do like Lipo mods tho got a pair of m80s used all the time so I've got big hopes for this, if it's good I'll get another. Got a 2nd cuboid coming from GB, two batteries work horse in a great compact format, got the SS so ordered a black one. Some subtank nano bases from FT cos Mrs Poo finally discovered subohm MTL after three years and has started breaking these now instead of her aero tanks!

Received stand B today and I've got to say it's an outstanding piece of workmanship, I'm proper delighted with it! it's made from a lovely bit of wood, very very carefully machined and the finish is silky smooth, it's an absolute credit to wildpolecat and he's let it go at a very very reasonable price. Thanks so much, all my gear in one place on one stand, I can just about fill it and do it justice. Cheers Si

Hi poochops, I reckon that most of us that change from smoking to vaping, do so because they cannot give up smoking (nicotine) very easily. Like others, I thought that perhaps vaping might be a way of slowly giving up nicotine by gradually reducing the amount of nicotine over a long period of time. Afterall, by getting rid of the other chemicals that come in cigarettes, surely getting rid of the last one, the nicotine, would be easier than doing it straight off cigarettes. Well I was wrong. My nicotine dependency is a lot stronger than I thought. So whilst I applaud you and your ideas about cutting down the MG levels in the future, don't base your calculations on what you "might" achieve in the future. Try it first, over a period of several months and only then, if you are successful, cut down again for a few months. What we would like to see happen and what actually happens might be 2 very different things. I understand where you're coming from lobeydosser and were not in any particular mindset to reduce the nic content for any other reason then we can, we started on 24mg at first but quickly dropped to 18 and then over the last 12 months or so we reduced gradually to 10. I mix about 3 times a year and I make a shed load all in one go, stocks are getting lowish and so I've just took delivery of about £70 worth of our favourite connys, I'll have a mega mixing session soon and make everything 8mg and I know from experience we won't notice the difference. So we'll be using the last of the 10mg and some of the new 8mg at the same time for a while, and the world will keep turning on its axis, next April I'll make a batch of 6mg and see how it goes, the thing is if we don't like how it feels it's easy enough to add a couple of mil extra base into a 200ml bottle to beef it back up again. All is good

Just worked ours out but I'm not sure if I've got this right, please check for me! 3 litres at 72mg is 3000x72 = 216000mg.
We vape 10mg juice at the mo 216000/10 = 21600ml or 21.6 litres.
We vape 6ml a day 21600/6 = 3600 days = 9.86 years.
Is that right? If it is, and we're reducing nic by 2mg every 4 months then? That's a mental equation, but I doubt we'll need ever by more nic, tell me I've not put a decimal place wrong somewhere please!

No phatfil mate, at the time it was about 40 quid a month for 180mls, I never had a fee to pay but they use standard airmail not a courier so the risk in slim. Beautifully packaged stuff I should add, but that don't make it taste better!

I had seven months worth of Zamplebox deliveries so nearly 80 bottles of juice before I cancelled, mainly due to juice overload! Firstly I do think it's good vfm especially if you don't mix your own, but there's the rub; I do mix, and after a few years of trial and error I managed to find about a dozen adv's which I've never grown tired of. The thing is with my Zamples is that in 80 bottles I've not found one that I'd buy again, don't get me wrong none of it was offensive (well one was, that tasted of cabbage but was supposed to be cantaloupe melon based) but not one single bottle was bloody great, so much so that I've got about forty bottles untouched apart from a half dozen drips to taste, and about thirty left part used that I'm working through of a night in a TFV4 juice burner! Just to use it all up. My home made adv's which are mainly one shots apart from three, and all wipe the floor with any of the juices I got from zample, so much so that I couldn't use the Zamplebox juices during the day because my tongue would've died from boredom, it might just be me but they all seem to taste so similar especially in the same flavour profile. Don't get me wrong most of them are ok, but there's definitely no fireworks going off

Still got an original penelope, cost a fortune then. Remembering faffing about with the nores/res/nores wires as well until FT started selling them. This prompted me to open my old vaping kit box and found a lava tube, can remember getting very excited when it first arrived. Then along came the Russian & Kayfuns, still got a load of them in the box too. Wonder what we'll be on when the DNA 200 goes in the box. Could never afford a penny, they were something else though weren't they, proper machine shop stuff for serious vapers! Didn't they come out about 5 years ago? Possibly longer I'm not sure. You used to have to join lists and wait months to get kit like that!

For example, discussions were still being had then about bulding a res/no res/res wire welder from a redundant flashgun! Hey don't knock it they're still selling.. Do you honestly still make them MeV? I've still got my Hercules and my Ithaka and there's another resnores atty I can't even remember the name of! I keep them for nostalgias sake they were bloody good atomisers, still are, but I haven't built them for ages, kayfuns kind of put them on the subs bench

Lol awesome thread , I've still got this in my draw I do watch some of the older grim green videos and the technology then makes me chuckle. Those were our first ecigs! Cost me £45 each!!! I got them from bargain vapour in Ireland and they had disposable atomisers that cost about a four quid each and lasted about a week, remember you'd fill the plastic tank with about a mil of juice? When you changed flavours you'd get some really interesting mixes with the residue of the previous juice haha The cost of them atomiser heads meant I soon moved us on to something more affordable it was a ce5+ clearo from Alba vapours cost about £6.50 and it was a much better vape, then I discovered FT who sold a pack of ten for about £15 and that's what we used for a good few months before discovering the Vamo and the Vivi nova that's when we really started to rock n roll!. Recoiling Vivi nova heads with the help of everyone on the forum was my first foray into building, Silica Wick anyone? Haha
