re-coiling help please!

Hi all - I've been re-coiling with 1mm 2mm and 3mm wicks but can only get 3 turns in my coil before resistance is too high to get a decent hit. Obviously my wire is of too high resistance. How many turns should i have? Im not sure what it is but it's what was recommended on a sticky or something on here. What size should I use (link appreciated) to get a decent low res coil?

Im using a protank 2 mini with 650 riva still but im looking for a used vamo now.

What are you recoiling?
which atty, what size wick, Silica,Ecowool, Mesh?

I would be tempted to use one biy of 2mm silica with some .20 kanthal and do 5 close together wraps and then put 2 small lengths of 2mm silica on top as flavour wicks. That should get you around the 2ohm mark.

Oh and when you wrap use a pin along the length of the silica and dont wrap the coil to tight.

Use 0.2 kanthal and you can get 5 turns @ 2 ohms, the thicker the wire the lower the resistance so using thicker wire means you need more turns.
If I use 0.16 I only need 4 turns to get about 2.4 ohms.

Ha yeah that's tge guide I used so must have ordered the 0.2 - maybe they sent me something thinner as with 4 turns I have almost 4 ohms.

With 2-3 turns I get just over 2 Ohms but still very little flavour.

Should I go for a thicker wire as coils I buy seem to have lotts of turns and taste/last better?

Mmmmm how spaced out are your coils? They should be pretty tight. What size silica wick are you using?

How are you testing your coils to see your ohm reading?

Fairly tight

And with a calibrated meter - im an electrician

0.2 Kanthal wraps using 2mm silica should be as follows:

4 wraps = 1.8
5 wraps = 2.0
6 wraps = 2.2

The above is wrapped snugly, not tight and not loose.
