Get a 510 Airflow Controller they work a treat with an atty etc. that won`t fire on the MVP2. It solved the problem as can be read hereGriff Thanks for that Griff I've had quite a few problem attys on my MVP2 Despite following previous advice re lifting centre pin Got one on order now

jacquif, lifting the centre pin is a good test for connectivity issues. That will tell you whether there is a gap between the contacts but not actually fix the underlying problem. A longer term but not permanent solution is to withdraw the centre pin and apply some solder, that should see you right for several months. The best fix is to replace the grommet, my preference is to use heat shrink and an 'O' ring, it's pretty much indestructible. There are several people on here who can do the repair for you including myself, don't be afraid to ask.

I've had a similar problem with my MVP2 and a "Dropping" centre pin raid2506, if I take the teeny tiny screws/hex bolts out of the top can I then see what the problem is?? (If anyone knows where I left my glasses..... again!) I know there are pretty small/tiny wires and gizmos inside, but where would I be looking??

No, you need to unclip the main button surround too and the button then you can slide the top out, not sure you'll gain much by getting in there though.

(If anyone knows where I left my glasses..... again!) I know there are pretty small/tiny wires and gizmos inside, but where would I be looking?? The problem is invariably a 'one size fits all' design of the centre pin. It fits most but you get the odd atty which just isn't happy. On older mods or those which have been shown a heavy hand the grommet can deform allowing the pin to sit low and not make contact. An O ring mod will usually solve both of these problems. There is no advantage to taking the top off the MVP in this situation, any inspection or corrective work can be done from outside.

So raid2506 if I remove/pull out centre pin (my heart is hammering) I can insert an O ring? Or if I Vaseline an O ring will it slip over the extended pin (rather than pulling pin out completely)? What size O ring, I've got a mixed box.

keepitgoin the O ring you want is 2mm x 1mm Nitrile, its tiny and strong as an ox! You need a way to spread it with about 10lbs of force so it will fit over the pin. I usually de-solder the pin, fit O ring from back and then re solder. You can dry fit them if you have cranked needle point tweezers or similar.

Same thing happens on most tanks My iClear 30's were doing the same on my MVP2 Me thinks they need to add a spring loaded pin on the next release so there's a bit of play in it for the various tanks The SVD has a spring loaded pin so Innokin know how to do it - mind you the SVD is about a foot long so there's more space to play with

But the iclear 30 works spot on and is about the same size as the protank.

Checked out mates protank for size today and didn't make contact. My protank minis also have spurious ohm readings but my iclear16s are spot on. Guess I must of overtightened a iclear16 on it! Would a 510->510-ego adapter work too? such as this... , this could save wear on mvp2 ego/510 thread too I suppose as I change clearo 5-8 times a day!

boyofford no reason the 510 to Ego adapter shoudn`t do the job for Ego tanks. I see no issues with putting the 510 airflow controller on the MVP2 and then the 510 to Ego adapter on top of that. You would then be able to use Ego tanks and just take off the 510 to Ego adapter to use 510 tanks. Griff

Hi all
I realise this thread is quite old, so I might just be talking to myself ?
Anyway, my MVP2 firing pin has come all the way out, no wires attached or remnants of solder for me to tell how it was fixed in there.
Would it have been soldered to a wire on the end or run through a metal collar or something ?
I read about using a 510 airflow with an adapter, would that work with no pin or does it need a fiddly stripdown and soldering ? I hope not as I've got Parkinsons symptoms so you can guess the mess Id make of that !
So, if there is anyone here, Id be greatful of any advice.
Cheers
Tim
