I have to agree with most of the posts so far, e-cig alikes are rubbish at best, and IF your other half wants to take up Vaping thats great, introduce him to the forum rather than get him a present he may not like. I'm NOT giving up Smoking, I'm TAKING UP Vaping!! ![*cheers*](//storage.proboards.com/2973975/images/Vx6QECqQADBpqG6ddJje.gif)

irenevork81You have not put a location where you are so it's hard to suggest a specific one but another way you might want to go with him is to try and find a "Bricks & Mortar" shop or Market Stall near you to take him along and try a E-Cig out before committing. Also they could be somewhere to answer questions he may at a later date. Our Shops and Market stalls map (with addresses) can be found HERE most have been "vetted" by members here so you know you are much less likely to receive bad advice or get "ripped off".

I'm inclined to agree with effingtonI suppose what might get him to try it, and maybe make it a more acceptable present, would be if you said it was for times when he couldn't have a cigarette. This this this, then hopefully once he's used it a few times it then becomes acceptable and he's off and running, but far better to get a decent kit and not run the risk of, this is crap where's my fags.

Thank you for all your posts and advice! I did not expect that many replies ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) As I mentioned I have done some research. I am not looking for these weird devices that I think most of you are referring to. The ones with liquid and other jargon. They seem to be for the more advanced user. The electronic cigarettes I mentioned are simple and easy to use. I understand the cost issue but it will only be important in the long term. For now, I just want my husband to try the easiest and lest complicated version for some time. If he likes it, then he can move on to the more complicated and professional ones. One of the electronic cigarette sites is offering a month worth of supply for fixed cost that looks reasonable for a start - plus they look good for a present. My question is which of the brands I mentioned would you advice me to go with provided my husband has never tried any.

Hi Irene Out of the three you linked to ive tried two Elites:Id set that one aside as it really does prove to be very expensive Skycig:Better than the Elite and if you buy the pack with the charger that he can plug in this one then it will increase the battery time(but very expensive The other link is possibly the one you like from a looking like a present point of view? cant really comment as ive never tried it Wild card:What about This . yes it looks a little daunting but its very well made, fairly cheap, refills are nt too expensive, does nt look too far removed from a cigarette size and gets good reviews plus it will feel a little more like a cigarette when inhaling than the other ones. My concern is if he tries the three you mention they dont really have a great effect and the potential is there for him to dismiss e cigs completely but the wild card option has a decent chance of converting him you tube review hereBut if you really want to go with one of your three my vote would be for skycig hope it helps ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Welcome back Irene ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I have not tried any of the brands which you mentioned. With all of them please take their descriptions with a pinch of salt, they all over claim how many cigarettes they are "worth". I completely understand why simple and easy to use appeal, especially to someone who has never tried it before. If your husband is initially impressed but after a few days finds that it isn't everything he hoped it would be, then please get him on here to talk to us. Remember that we are independent, we aren't trying to "sell" any particular brand or vendor. The reason why we give the advice we give is because of experience. Yes there are some people on here for whom this has become a hobby as well as a habit, but there are many people who are simply trying to find an easy way to give up smoking, and vaping is indeed a miracle in that regard IF it is set up properly. Also remember that smokers have a tendency to be a little defensive. They know they are supposed to give up, they know it makes them smell. If it was easy then most would give up. The fact is it isn't easy. It took my husband a year to get completely off cigarettes. When we discovered vaping I was already committed to stopping smoking. He liked the theory of stopping, but in no way was he ready to. It has to be his journey, if you put to much pressure on, you will send him to his usual response to stress ... an extra cigarette ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Good luck, I hope that you manage to add to the growing number of ex-smokers ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Please be careful, and extra, extra vigilant. I think in my original reply to you, I suggested some basic kit....please (I beg you) consider this type of product or drop me a message.

I approve of this "wild card" choice too. Paired up with these www.cavecom.com/screwdriverSD/shopSD/cartomisers.shtmlNo tie-ins. No fuss. No extortion (because some of the products and "deals" are anything but). It used to be possible to have a one-stop shop at the SD screwdriver website, but no more....sadly.

Thanks again. I notice that there is a big "obsession" with price. Even when the difference is not a lot in the initial stages. I really don't mind if the price is £50 instead of £30 or £20..I will not get richer or poorer, and I don't subscribe to the view that a penny saved is a penny earned, I am more of a make more money rather than save more money girl ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) . I will go with the starter kit at shop4ecigs.co.uk becouse I like the design. If it does not work out..well..I tried. If it does, he will find his own way in the maze of the electronic cigarette choices out there. Thank you for your support ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

It's not so much as an obsession with price irenevork81 as trying to find good value for money ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/2973975/images/tp5PrWyI_PKJl_LSRuh9.gif) I can assure you if you get yourself into a contract with a recurring payment you may well end up much poorer. The Boge kit I linked to above is a good brand from a very reputable vendor and looks much the same as the one you like on shop4ecigs ???
