I am going to have a go at recoiling some of my atty's tonight and am thinking of trying to do some microcoils. I will be recoiling heads for my protanks with silica and genesis type atomizers like my steamboy 2.1 and rsst that I use with s/s mesh. Can microcoils be done on any of these and if so is a1 kanthal ok to use?

stu1873, Romelee is the man when it comes to the coiling. But for my two pence worth, on my protanks I used. . 30 kanthal A1 with about 8-9 wraps I do have an rsst but have never put a micro coil in it. Next one for that is kanthal ribbon and ss rope

You will end up with very high resistance or with fewer wraps, there will not be enough length of the micro to sufficiently cover enough wick. It will sort of work and as Rommers said .25 Kanthal would be better. But you would be better going for at least .30 Kanthal which will cover more wick at a lower resistance

Forgot to add, the only reason i use 0.25 Kanthal is because there is not that much room in the Kanger heads and the last thing you want to be doing is for the coils to be touching the sides of the head, if i use .30 kanthal i need a lot of wraps to get the right resistance for me so .3 kanthal was not for me as you need more wraps to get the right resistance so the more wraps the closer it got to the sides of the head. But this is based on a 2mm drill bit. So my setup is: 0.25 Kanthal for small areas with microcoil .30 Kanthal for large areas with microcoil If that makes sense...i am confusing myself now EDIT: Overall i use 0.25 Kanthal as it heats up quicker. EDIT again: My wife said nothing wrong with touching the sides

Cheers guys.
Just going to wait until i have some better suited Kanthal to do it as i attempted to do an Evod head and the resistance was 3.9!

Ah yes Rommers of course, a good point, when you are restricted for space. I was being a bit blinkered there, sorry.

Cheers guys. Just going to wait until i have some better suited Kanthal to do it as i attempted to do an Evod head and the resistance was 3.9! Twist the 32/.20 to double the resistance. A 7 cm length of .20 is ~2.8?, Measure 14 cm, fold in half to 7 cm and twist. Now 7 cm meters ~1.3?. Have fun Be safe I
