My little bundle of independence and claws is spending the night at the vet's. She's been up-chucking over the weekend, although she has been keen to eat. The last two specimens have contained blood so I armed myself with a towel and wrapped her (sort of!!) and threw/inserted her into the cat cage. Vet says he can't feel anything particularly wrong, no pain, no temperature. He suggested antibiotic, anti emetic and vitamin injections and bring her back tomorrow. Said maybe they would do blood/urine screen tomorrow. I said I would rather he did it all today, just to save her from the extra stress of traveling again. So my awkward little girl is spending a night away from home and Mungo, my awkward dog, is very perplexed because she isn't here!

Sorry to hear your little bundle of independence and claws is poorly Lynda Was the blood on the outside of the stool with mucous? If so it could just be due to an irritable bowel.

Hope everything goes ok for your kitty Lynda . . . as Chris says it could be a touch of IBS, I had very similar with Sammy, fortunately it's turned out to be just that. With a change of diet, everything is well again . . . although it's strange how they can develope intolerances to foods they've eaten for years . . . not unlike humans I suppose. But it is a worry when your furry is unwell, so paws crossed for you all.

Just phoned the vet who says that she still hasn't given them a urine sample....
I'm supposed to be working tonight and don't want to bring her home and then leave her alone so have reluctantly decided to leave her at the vet for another night and collect her tomorrow morning.
The good news is that she hasn't been sick again but then, she has an empty tummy so won't have anything to get rid of.
Daisy isn't a people cat so I feel doubly bad about leaving her another day.

Vet has just called me and said they found blood in her urine and that the test results aren't back from the lab yet. He's going to call me before I go to work this evening. I'm going to pick her up straight from work tomorrow morning anyway. The house just isn't the same without her and I think she will do better at home with me. Lynda

Our Frankie has started being ill recently, gone off food and throwing up, generally not being himself. The vets gave him a couple of anti biotics and some pills to give him. He's slowly getting better.
I hope it's the same for yours x

Well, she's home!!
She hadn't eaten since she went in, despite being given an appetite stimulating injection.
Her test results were all normal....
One of the best things about having her home was seeing Mungo come and greet her at the door.
Wimpy dog usually tries to pretend that he can't see her. They had a bit of a smooch!
I now have a watching brief.
She ate a little food and then came to me for cuddles.
She's happy to be home; nearly as happy as I am to have her here!
Thankyou all for your good wishes. They really do help..
Lynda

I sometimes think perhaps I shouldn't read these threads 'cos I just empathise too much and can almost feel myself welling up in sympathy; been there, know just what it feels like.
We've also had a cat who simply refused to eat anything whatsoever at the vets; the nurses were trying to hand-feed him bits of fresh tuna & chicken - total no-go. He had a busted pelvis and they didn't want to release him till he'd passed some solids. Soon as he was home he ate, and we went into the bizarre situation of praying for cat poo. And in time, we got some.
I'm sure you've done all the right things, including bringing her home again now. Test results all being normal should be grounds for being cautiously optimistic because at least that rules out some of the really ghastly causes which could have been behind it.
Feel for you both, Lynda, and have gone right back to sending positive thoughts - for you both. All very best wishes.
