Every V5 SS Vamo I've seen has the atty gap, one of the eccentricities of the beast. I'm so used to it I forget it is there. I've not seen the brass like that before though ..............Jag. (You learn something everyday ....) Which is exactly why I can't All I do on mine is unscrew the removable top part once the atty is attached, until it hides the gap. Admittedly, there can sometimes be a small gap, but ALL the pics and YouTube vids I've seen, its nowhere as big as this.

Brambles - spring wasn't in the base when I stuck a magnet to it But you may have something there with wiggling the top off I've put a ticket in at slowtech, but I'd rather fix it if I can.

Please forgive me if I am talking bollox fred (I dont have a V5), but is the top part a push fit? Have you tried taking the beauty ring off and tapping the top brass bit (510 connector) back in to the top bit of tubing with a bit of wood and a hammer/mallet? See disclaimer below

If its safe to do so,I'll squeeze it together a not in the vise. Hopefully I'll remember to take a few pics in case anyone else has the same trouble. I think this is fixable,as it seems that the thickness of that brass ring may be the same as the excess the 510 sticks out. Thanks all for the suggestions so far

You could use a bit of suitable pipe to go over the 510 connector (and hit it with the hammer) so that you arent forcing the actual 510 connector. I`ve done it before in a similar situation. It would be a big help if someone else had a similar V5 that they could photograph to see if there is any difference in the "fit" position of the top cap.

ZMax has a gap too - screwing a wide-topped plinth on the outer (eGo) part fills it up and meets the bottom on the atty for more stability. I really have to have to thank Roscopecotrain for sending me one - just the job!

Any chance you can do a pic of the top of the vamo without the beauty ring fred ? Just wondering how much exposed brass there is there. I cant see any brass on any of the V5 pics on FT No problem if you cant, just interested (I can never put down an unfinished crossword puzzle either lol)

I was assuming it probably was an unplated brass top part, but wondering if you have a point here and it may be a brass ring which has been added as a spacer. Yes agree a pic of fred's top cap without the shroud would be helpful.
