To be clear, nobody reported anything to ProBoards, but they, like other forum hosting firms, have bots that do a sweep. Content against their T&C's gets picked up & then a warning goes out.



A couple of years back, the same happened on FreeForum hosted forums. The one I admin had the warning mail & that is a closed forum, as well as hundreds of others. A right debacle took place on their support forum. To give you some idea, on a mother & baby forum, the admin was contacted to remove photos of breastfeeding, as they were deemed "inappropriate". ??? 


Nothing has to change with the forum at all, this is all about not posting inappropriate pictures where the content is of a sexual nature, as ProBoards do not like it & will act.

Long time lurker here, odd that this will be my first post because this thread deals with the main reason I never posted before.
After reading countless threads on here concerning vaping and giving up smoking, I finally did lay down the cigarettes for good close to two months ago. I haven't touched another one since. And that is down to some of the helpful advice from some of you. So this is my chance to say thank you to those people.

However, being female, I have found that a lot of the posts on here are sometimes a bit offensive and that has been very off putting and has kept me silent and not wanting to join in. I am not a prude whatsoever. But I do believe that everything has it's place. I came here to learn about vaping, plain and simple. If I wanted to chat, then there are plenty of places I can do that. The same goes for "adult" banter. Some of the threads here appear to be more similar to threads on a dating site. I'm certain that I am not the only female to have this opinion.

There are a lot of people who really need the support to stop smoking. I lost my best friend to lung cancer 14 months ago. I know I am not alone here, I'm sure several of you have also lost people you love.

My first post and I have probably said too much. There are lots of "adult" sites and chat rooms out there where people can meet and
flirt or whatever. This forum has most likely saved lives. It has a bigger purpose, much more important than social networking and "naughty" behaviour.

It's a simple request people ... please don't post suggestive or provocative images .... it's no biggie ... unless you are still into sniggering over a playboy magazine behind the bike sheds (ahh .. fond memories of school days ) Let's all agree with this simple request and move on

Is Proboards American? If so, their attitude doesn't surprise me. They have some very weird and draconian morals in some things and not others.

So, can I clarify that is it only the pictures they are upset about and not our adult banter? I hope so, because I love the humour on here with some of our older and regular members. If that went it would become utterly tedious.cyes, it is a forum for learning about ecigs, BUT, and it's a big but, very many members use it as so much more. You can get ecig info from many different places. Friendship, community, and support, you can't.

Well, this community has helped me a ton, it's the least i can do, problem is Chrissie has said ProBoards don't allow access to backups, i have quizzed as to what she has access to, and may request if she can temp make me an admin and see what i can do, i have knowledge of PHP and MySQL amongst other programming languages.

I have no desire to see adult pictures also, but the prominent threat of immediate deletion if we put a foot wrong makes it risky to host with ProBoards then we need to move.

As for those not wishing to socialise, have a laugh and make good friends, then my advice is, don't go in the lounge!!! 99.9% of the forum is designated to vaping and rightly so, but please don't begrudge those of us who have made good friendships both online and in real life through meets! the comrades we have built up.
I don't like very explicit pics, but I do like a tongue in cheek laugh etc. please remember that it states quite clearly in the title of the lounge section that it is a place for off topic non vaping subjects.

Hi skye and welcome to AAEC ... sorry that your first post had to be in the midst of this nonsense ... we are usually a pretty decent crowd of misfits who enjoy each others company and as Dolly says we do chat and socialise a lot and offer support, help and hugs when needed. We also have been known to discuss vaping related matters when things are quiet lol. Most of the risque banter that we sometimes engage in is simply that .. a bit of craic as we Irish call it and it is not meant to cause offence. The issue of offensive material being posted is of course an entirely different matter and as I have said before I would encourage all members to report anything that they might find offensive to the moderators ... be it sexual, sectarian, racist or homophobic ... I would add ageist but we oldies tend to take the piss out of ourselves before any other bugger gets a chance. Anyhow, good to have you on board AAEC.

I didn't see the pictures and from the sound of them I'm glad of it. Please don't get me wrong - I love this place, and all the banter that goes on has me in stitches.

It's a bit worrying that Proboards could just pull the plug at such short notice, especially as Chrissie, the mods and some very helpful members put in so much effort for the benefit of everyone.

Yes, this freehosting type of Forum always kept encrypted back-ups on the server ...... that isn't to say that you can't make a back up though .....


Sometimes, what can be achieved in the CP is quite astounding.


I'd offer to help more, but I quit this side of things two years back, and I don't want to get back into the habit.

Sorry for not replying to all the PM's I've received about this. I've not been too well over the last couple of weeks due to a cold I can't shake off - first bad one since I started vaping

I'm so tired, so about to log off but will leave you all with the following thoughts -

Is it really worth getting upset about not being able to post risqué photos? Or is it more important to continue helping as many smokers find a safer & healthier alternative?
