I want to make a menthol crystal mix today and note from various threads on the forum the crystals should be dissolved in PG. I am out of PG. Can they be dissolved in something else - distilled water, vodka. VG???? TIA

emmita you can dissolve menthol crystals in any clear alcohol e.g. Vodka or Gin, or distilled water, the crystals don't dissolve in VG very well & can reform this is why PG is used mainly.

There you go emmita, dinamic22 has spoken! You could try gently warming the VG, but I think 5 seconds MAXIMUM in a microwave is really your only option. That, or dunking the sealed bottle in hot water, and giving it a damned good shake May be better to try in cheap vodka or distilled water as mentioned. Lots of words, and nothing more constructive to add to the post above - story of my life!!

You can of course add the crystals straight into your mix (a few at a time) and dissolve. I have done this a few times and it works OK.
