HI looking for a bit of help on getting the wright bits. Ok here we go i have a kayfun 3.1 (clone) also have my coil buddy and cotton wool so what thickness of wire would i need, also should i use a say a 4ml. drill bit in the coil buddy. Would the same coil work on the kanger coils or would i need to ajust it.if you know what i mean.

Hi john321 I think 4mm would be a bit big, most peeps go for 1.5 to 2mm. For wire I would personally use 0.3 kanthal a1, but you can use 0.25 or even 0.32, 0.35 or larger. Bear in mind the larger the gauge of the wire the more difficult it is to use. And when you add you cotton dont put in too much, in these cases less is more!. Good luck and let us know how you get on. If you get stuck Super-Shiny will have some advice as I know he has kayfuns

So far I've put microcoil + cotton in a protank, which was pretty good, and in an aga-t with a little cotton round the steel mesh, which is the best vape I've had yet - but I don't own a kayfun.
The protank was good until the cotton burnt, then it was foul & stayed foul. Later I plan to take out the cotton, rinse & dry-burn, and put in new cotton, see if it recovers and if the juice is still useable.

I have the 3.1 clone and a KFL. I use 9 wraps of 28AWG available hereThis gives me 1.4 or 1.5 ohms. I just use a cotton bud stalk to wrap the wire around lol I did try the M3 screw (wall plug socket screw), but found it easier to get the wraps tighter on the cotton bud stalk. I tend to use 32AWG on Protanks etc... as i havent tried a microcoil in any of that type yet.

Hi John, A 4mm drill bit will not fit into the Coil Buddy, the maximum is 3.5mm but generally, most use 1.5mm drill bit as supplied with the "Buddy". As many have suggested .30 or .32 Kanthal works well. 8 to 10 wraps around the 1.5mm drill bit using the "Buddy" should give you 1.8 to 2 ohms. Dont forget to heat a length of wire to red hot first, then wind. Once you have your required wraps, cut the wire close to the top bolt on the Buddy and then remove. Compress your coil in between some tweezers and heat to cherry red with a cheff`s blowtorch a couple of times letting it cool keeping it under compression. You can then mount your coil on the Kayfun as normal. Once tightened down, pulse fire your mod for 1 or 2 seconds 4 or 5 times. then fire it until it glows(then let your finger off the fire button) and compress the coil in situ using the tweezers. Do this a couple of times then once cooled, you can check the resistance of the kayfun. If you are happy, you can then thread some cotton wool through.
I know it sounds like a lot of work but once you are used to it, you will be able to do all the above in less than 5 minutes.
Also remember that by using thicker wire like .30 Kanthal, the coil will last a lot longer, (I have one that has been going for over a month). It is then just a matter of removing the cotton wool, dry burn and putting in some fresh cotton wool every tank of juice which takes less than a couple of minutes.

For my Protank 2 I use 0.30 Kanthal around a 2mm drill bit with 10 wraps and a cotton wool wick. This gives me around 1.6 or 1.7 ohms. I found that I couldn't fit many more wraps on the microcoil before it started to brush against the sides and shorting out.

Just done a micro coil in a tired protank 3 head - only put in a single coil after taking the dual coils out
I used .25mm kanthal A1 Wrapped approx 10 time around a 14 gauge blunt needle Cotton Wool for the wick
The vape from it is almost as good as my KFL+ although I'm yet to do a micro coil on the KayFun - Job for tomorrow :-)
