When i purchased the Sophia RBA for the SnP i coiled it with res/non res wire as you do and used Bastos wick, after about 2-3 hours i started coughing and when this started the coughing went into frenzy mode, so much so i could not breath properly and also the inside of my lips swelled up. Went to see the doctor and she gave me Prednisolone (antihistamines) and also a Asthma pump by the name of Salamol which over time fixed the problem. Now i recently purchased the Iatty and done the same and coiled it using res/non res wire using Bastos wick and low and behold after 2-3 hours the coughing came back with a vengeance so i am back on the Prednisolone and Salamol pump. The only way i can explain it is that once i start coughing i cannot stop and the taste i get in my mouth is i think iron. Anyway i have been trying to narrow it down and have come up with this............ Is it the ceramic cups? Is it the Bastos wick? I have had atty's like the Terminator/Oddy/Euphoria and they all used Ceramic cups with res/non res wire but with them i used Silica wick and never had a problem. So my question is................do you think it is the Bastos wick that is giving me problems as it's a bit of a coincidence that i don't have problems with ceramic cups with the Terminator/Oddy/Euphoria using silica wicks or maybe the ceramic cups with the Sophia and Iatty are the problem? My brain is telling me it's the Bastos wick but how i don't know....it's just a wick. All other atty's that don't use ceramic cups and bastos are fine. One very unhappy vapor as i cannot vape atm without coughing like mad

Never used Bastos wick Rom, but it's a weird coincidence you only suffering with this and not straight silica. I've got the iatty and I've used it heavily over the last week and not noticed anything different at all.
Can only suggest you lay off the bastos for say a fortnight with these atties and then give it another go and see if the problem returns, quite why you're having a reaction though if it did return is anyone's guess

Simple solution Rom ... recoil the iAtty with silica and recoil your Kayfun with bastos .... if it's the ceramic cup that is the problem then a silica wick will have no effect and if it is the bastos that is the problem then the Kayfun will have you coughing.

Was thinking that but i am scared as hell to try out different variations as i really don't want this to get any worse, at present i am vaping 6mg on a spinner with a mini Davide with a 2.4ohms coil set at 3.8 volts and no matter what, it's making me cough like mad. This is the worst time i have had since vaping and i did get to a point today and almost smashed everything up out of anger (i have a short fuse) I can just about handle the coughing but the not being able to sleep because when i lie down flat i simply cannot breathe so have to sit up straight and even then i am still coughing like mad and have to leave the room due to the baby being alseep. You could say Sky news 4am in the morning is very boring, another thing is i ain't going to work because of it and am already on the brink of losing my job Gonna just try and relax and wait for it to pass and stay clear of Bastos wick as i can only think that is where the problem lies.

Was you zapping your own wires when you had the euphoria? If so I guess you can rule that out. You have vaped with ceramic before, rule that out. Bastos wick????
Have you tried it in any other devices? If not then try it, but the taste of iron would suggest to me it is wire and not wick. I could be miles out though.

The taste of iron is not from vaping, the taste of iron is when i cough, it's what i taste through my airways....if that makes sense. Now that i think of it (going back a bit in my brain)....when the coughing went the first time and all was getting better i did build the Sophia without Bastos wick and the coughing did not happen. It's only come back with the Iatty as i wicked it with Bastos. So it does look like Bastos it is, but how? it's just wick, but saying that i built the Fogger v2 with Bastos and never had this problem.

I've used Bastos wick quite a bit and never had any problems. The only thing I've ever had with ceramic cups is that if you don't really wash them they can taste odd.
Did you boil and dry the wick before using it? I know lots of people flame wick material but I much prefer boiling as it doesn't tighten the filaments.

I would suspect it's the bastos wick Rom .... lay off both the ceramic and the bastos until your health recovers and then try silica in the iAtty.
Sidetracking here for a bit ... why do you need NR/R/NR in the Sophia? ... the wires are inside the ceramic cup and are no longer than the wires in an evod head.

I know nowt about wicks but I know a smidge about allergic reactions, they can set off for no apparent reason even with something that you've used before with no problem. You need to stay well clear of that wick until your chest is clear, give the prednisolone (steroid) a chance to reduce the inflammation, the taste of iron could be blood when you're coughing. Have you any allergies to anything else? Could the wick have become contaminated with anything?

Never in my life had any allergies but there is always a first, don't know if the wick has been contaminated but there is always a chance. Gonna lie low on vaping atm until my coughing stops and gonna stop using Bastos wick as it seems like the culprit.

Super-Shiny sorry to hear your having a bad time, by coincidence I have been coughing for what seems the last 4+ weeks, just put it down to a cold. But..... What juice are you vaping, is it your own or premade? As much as I love it I have been wondering if the red Astaire is to blame? Almost finished my 30mls so going to use some of my other juice and see what happens. It could be the juice and not the wicks... Just a thought

Deffo not the juice, was vaping Red Astaire with no problems before and all other juices for that matter, really do think now it is the Bastos wick, way to much of a coincidence
