Somebody told me the Kanger heads use 2mm wick and 2 x 1mm flavour wicks.
I bought some 1mm to add to my collection of various sizes (and types) and it is tiny. I can't see 2 bits of that doing the job. ???
I put a 2.5mm flavour wick in a smok ARO last night (on top of a 3.0mm wick/wire) and so far.....drum roll.....prepare yourself......it's not gurgling.
Shhh. Pray, pray hard for me.

When I started recoiling my protank heads (please bear in mind I am NO expert - far from it!) I used 2mm silica and used a few stray strands as flavour wick and this worked fine. I have since changed over, mostly, to ekowool as I find it easier to work with. I realised reading through this thread again that I have stopped putting a flavour wick on top of the ekowool (- because I forgot ) but the coils are working great with no leaking or gurgling or flooding. I've just checked again and it is 2.5mm ekowool that I've got. Better go back and edit my post above..... oops, sorry flynn

I have some 0.25 Kanthal in my new pack of stuff. Great coil that is for making Microcoils/Cotton for anything that has a small area to work with, i.e evod/protanks etc etc Little guide here on how many wraps on a 2mm drill bit:

i have learned something new 3mm ekowool is to thick to work on a protank ,will use only 3mm silica ,for some reason .25 kanthal resistane wire i cant get it to work on my protank i have made about 5 heads and nt one will fire up on .25 kanthanl resistane wire . so thats leaves with .20 kanthal wire and the 3mm silica wick and they fire up ok/ first question is there something different between the 2 wires 25 kanthal resistane wire and 20 kanthal wire

Is there an issue with using 0.25 Kanthal on a regular 5 wrap protank-type?
I have some to try, I just expected it to come out lower than I'm used to.
I never got ekowool to work on anything other than TCCs.

If you were making your 0.25 coils with the same number of wraps as you used for the 0.2 coils, they were probably too low a resistance to fire on your battery. As Super-Shiny has said, 0.25 is more suited to micro coils or low ohms coils on a mechanical mod.

I'm trying to make around that number to use my only "big" Protank on a mechanical.

Yep ... just use the same wick and the same number of wraps that you would use with 0.2 kanthal to get around 2 ohms .... with 0.25 kanthal it should give you approximately 1 ohm

Regarding your OP, a Kanger Protank, numerous people have indicated 0.2 mm Kanthal wire and either 2 mm or 3mm sliica wick (ecowool is just another form of silica that is braided and holds more eliquid than the normal twisted silica) ... whether or not you place 1 or 2 silica strands as flavour wicks on top of your coil is a personal choice.
