It's a great little atty..Steep learning curve but works very well.
Dunno about any chimney mods, but I use 8mm ( 2 x 4 strands) of wick in it and it delivers a excellent vape.
I wouldn't bother with SS.

I watched Todd on youtube and he enlarged the two notches on the chimney which sits over the wick holes i find it works for me! i tried 3mm silica then 3mm threaded through 3mm ekowool and frayed the ekowool (so it frayed inside the chimney),i then used 3mm silica unwound (no 1mm silica)that worked

Maybe that's the issue. They are not wick holes but feed holes and the channels are for juice to rise up and should be left clear.
When we got the first chrome version many of us thought they were wick holes too and the channels were for the wick and ended up with dry and burnt hits.
But try setting it up pretty much like a Kayfun and it will work great. Only problem is you can't access the wick to tuck it in nicely like a Kayfun because the top part of the chimney is not removable. But bung enough wick in there and it's a veritable fog machine with outstanding flavour and zero leakage or gurgling issues.

I am sure he means the 804 due to references to cutting two notches on the chimney and silica wick setup.

I'm with fiddles on this, micro coils and cotton wool gives an excellent vape on the 804.
