Must get a chat with you sometime - my main area for lecturing is in Web Design/Development and obviously extensibility and standards play a big part. I'm often over at the W3C trying to keep ahead...
Later...

I am a sales rep selling renewable energy products, Ange does not work for the company but comes with me all the time as it's always staying away from home. The company allow it and she's good company. It would be too lonely otherwise, and if I'm honest she now knows the job better than me! Well so she says.

After 32 years in IT, I took voluntary redundancy and early retirement last year - just scraped through before they put the minimum age up to 55!
I've had my own business, repairing clocks, for 15 years. I also have a part-time job working in a supermarket petrol station, because I got bored with retirement. Most of my free time is now spent building mods. I'm busier now than when I had a full-time job.

I've been unemployed due to health problems for a few years now but have done a multitude of things in the past. I've dropped out of university twice (computing science Bsc and Nursing BA) once through boredom (computing) and the other because of my health issues. I've been a restaurant manager, street sweeper, and parking attendant amongst other odds and sods. I have also set up and run more than a few websites for people and also repair the odd PC now and again.
I now spend a fair amount of time trying to mod with varying degrees of success - trying to relearn long forgotten electronics is a bugger.

Ever so interesting reading what everyone else is doing/has done . . . I started work as a Management Trainee for John Lewis, spent 16 years with them in a variety of Departments. A marriage break up and I decided to go into business for myself as my ex also worked for the Partnership and I wanted a complete break . . . so for 20 years I had a High Street shop selling knitting yarns, embroidery & haberdashery supplies . . . crafting being my hobby. When the shop lease finished a couple of years ago, I didn't renew it, I'd had enough of the stress . . . spent a year as a Power Seller on Ebay, again waaaaay too stressful. being in RM's hands ( sorry Curtis ) . . . did some Domiciliary care work for a few months until I spotted the Holland & Barrett job I'm currently in. Although my dream job would be having my own animal sanctuary.

A more detailed career background for you all...
Studied theatre and it in college, and studied sword fighting with Bill Hobbs. Worked summer seasons in camelot as a knight.
After leaving college had enough of education and worked as a staging, sound and lighting technician for Fac51/Factory records, followed by a three month stint as a sword fighter on robin hood, not the kevin costner one, worked as a computer programmer (COBOL, Pascal, 6502 and z80), then after a breakup and a period of homelessness, moved to Spain where I ran an italian restaurant, a mexican cantina, a nightclub, a bar, and briefly a swingers club and naturist beach. Returning to the uk, I worked in call centres, shovelled coal in a foundry, packed biscuits, worked in it support, ran my own consultancy, during which time I also got involved with Macromedia and their testing programme, developing web applications professionally and the writing editing.. The rest you all know...

I worked for a bank, as a teller and then in the data processing/mortgage department. I had to take an early retirement, due to poor health.

I'm a nursing auxiliary in a secure forensic mental health unit. I feel that I'm coming to the end of my tether there though; too many young men with personality disorder coming through now. I don't have the energy for them. If anyone has any thoughts on what I can do next, please feel free to make suggestions...
