I myself was very disappointed with the Hobbit (1st one)...the computer imagery was way over the top, it looked cheap and tacky, the LOTR was just amazing

Don't say that Rom. I adore the LOTR Trilogy and have high hopes for The Hobbit.

If you ain't got HDTV you will be fine (i think) and like it but with HDTV it looks so tacky, you can really tell that the recession kicked in on this film. I too am a great lover of LOTR but this just took the biscuit for computer imagery

Your T.V should say it on the front, something like High Definition (HD) or HDTV..........(but then again all depends on the DVD player) if your t.v is wooden in color than you won't notice a thing

It won't surprise you to hear that I haven't a clue what my DVD is either Super-Shiny, but I bought it from Argos.

I love both LOTR and the Hobbit. Watched the An Unexpected Journey - Extended Edition at the weekend on Blu-ray and thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one too.

Loved the trilogy but greatly disappointed with the 4th outing, fingers crossed they recapture the magic of the 1st 3 in this upcoming release.

Watched the normal and extended versions on Bluray, liked the few extra scenes in the extended version especially one funny scene (won't mention and spoil it).
Only thing I am not sure about is them spinning it out over 3 films, Jacksons only reasoning being he had a lot of footage so went to the production Co. asking them to make it 3 in stead of the 2 it was originally set out for. The Hobbit was one of my favourite books as a kid but it's only a short (ish) story and certainly not worthy of 9 hours of film I would say. I am still not sure of Freeman as Bilbo either, he's not a bad actor but 2 dimensional and Bilbo wouldn't be out of place in The Office.
