Hello fellow vapers and connoius conneis conneiu lovers of the juice. I have a quandary and would appreciate your advice. I have 2 Vamos, one on loan to a fellow vaper, and the threads on the 510 have about disappeared from both. I'm obviously in need of an urgent replacement/repair. Do I attempt to replace the top cap with a new one, only to have the same problem emerge in another 10 months time (ED: you know this is a non-starter, Andy, you don't know one end of a soldering iron from the other!), or do I buy an alternative? I am on a very limited budget, and have been eyeing up a Lavatube 18650 from VapourBreak as it will just about come in under what I have to spend. I have batteries and charger, so don't need a full kit. I don't like the look of the SVD, and want a tubular Mod, so the VTR is out for starters. I don't want a Mech Mod because I like the VV (and VW) option, and can't afford a mech mod AND Kick. I don't want to wait 2 months for a cheap replacement from FastTech (they really should consider changing their name!), so I have also wondered about buying it in the UK, although this will put me over budget. What do I do!!!!? I should add that Perpetua's loan of an 18350 Lavatube has literally saved the day, but changing batteries every 3 hours is doing my head in - I have to think ahead by 24 hours and make sure I have enough batts to last me - tomorrow I'm out from 07.30 to 21.00 and have tw obatteries on charge as I speak, totalling 4 I will take with me!!! Aaargh

This is only a short term fix and it depends entirely on how bad the threads are but have you considered getting a 510-510 adapter, once its screwed in you wont be putting any more strain on the threads since you will be screwing tanks into the adapter instead, sure it will cause a gap but they are cheap as chips and you can then order something from fasttech without having to worry about not having something to vape while you wait, or save up for something from the uk.

Also what sort of budget are you looking at? And what batteries do you currently own (18350,18500,18650) Since there are very few reasonably priced mechs out there that can take 18650+kick and you already said you don't like changing batteries every few hours =p

jordan - I have 3 x 18650 3200mah Panasonics which power my Vamo(s) - they are only 6 months old so should do a few more months yet, as they are used in rotation every 3 days or so. My budget is about £30 all-in, so you can see that I am restricted in my choice of mod! Thanks for the suggestion of the adaptor - honestly I;m not at all sure that there is enough thread left to accept the adaptor, let alone a Protank! May be worth spending a few quid to see it it is a short-term fix

chykensa PM me your address details and I`ll post you a stainless steel 510/Ego threaded adapter. These stainless adapters have better threads than the brass chrome plated adapters, one of which I have been using daily on my very old worn out Vamo. I am confident it will give you breathing space to save for another mod, whilst being able to use your trusty Vamo..

May be worth spending a few quid to see it it is a short-term fix If the adapter from Jeff works I would suggest the nemesis mod from FT, or pay a bit more and get it from the UK. As far as I'm aware LT ecigs and modsandatties both sell the nem clone for about £10 more than fasttech so around the £30 mark. Then you can save up for a kick if you feel you need one. What wattage do you usually vape at on your vamo? And do you recoil your own protank heads? Sorry if it feels like I'm bombarding you with questions, just trying to think of a fallback plan if the adapter doesn't fix the issue

And for your other dodgy vamo why not try a tank air flow control ring (no gap then ) Look HERE

jordan - thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated. I do recoil everything I use, and use my Vamo at 7.5w more often than not. I would like something with at least VV, which is why I'm contemplating the 18650 Lavatube.

Ok so another suggestion then, I know you want VV but if you vape at 7.5W a 1.9 ohm coil will start at around 9w on a fully charged battery, running down to about 6.8w when you get to 3.6v (which is when I change my batteries) on a mech. www.modsandatties.com/en/home/34-sigelei-8w-mod.html I have this mod and can't reccomend it enough, it never misfires, its an absolute doddle to take the switch apart if you need to (changing the spring etc) and it has an adjustable pin. Well under budget and so long as you check your heads on the vamo first to make sure there are no shorts, the batteries you have will be fine until you can pick up some IMR or some 18500's and a kick. Personally I can tell when my battery gets to about 3.6v but when I first started using a mech I was testing the voltage of the batteries in my vamo every couple of hours just to be on the safe side while I got used to where the drop off point was for recharging. Hopefully this makes sense to you since its nearly 1 am I'm not at my most coherent =p

chykensaCome and try the MVP2 you may change your mind about it. Battery life is about 2 days depending on what you have on top, longer for Evods than I clear 30. You can pick your vamo up at the same time Thank you for the loan of the vamo Eta:- I notice they have name the new builds near the police station after you

Zelda has made the recommendation that would have been mine chykensa . . . the MVP, the shape is considerably more user friendly than you would think. I've never been a fan of box mods, but this is worth making an exception for. The battery life is brilliant as well, you really won't know yourself. It's a cracking deal from Myepack: myepack.co.uk/itaste-mvp-v2-0.htmlI think Ash will swap out the Iclear30s for Iclear16's if you ask.

I have a similar problem but mine is just the o ring, however I can vouch for the airflow controller much better than the adapters

chykensa be careful, you could spend half the price or more of a lavatube/vamo on adapters (+p&p) and it still doesn't work...and you still end up spending on a new mod. Might be be better to get a new lt/vamo now and hope you can limp on till it gets here....just a thought. With the current visa/mastercard exchange rates, lt you linked to £18 delivered, ft SS v5 vamo £20.70 delivered
