geordie_vaper for a mech mod that's good quality I would have to suggest the Magneto, about £30-40, got mine from SmokeCloud and they have been excellent. You will also need batteries and chargers. I use an xtar and Efest batteries, 18350 mostly so it's smaller, but 18650 when I'm fishing for example. Being a telescopic mod you don't have to faff around changing tubes and stuff. Prices will vary depending where your ordering, best to search around and reader aaec discount codes.

Forgot to add they are all pretty simple, whack an atty on, adjust the centre pin (depending on what mod) chuck a battery in and you're off.

I'm also currently in the process of researching mech mods and there seems to be a lot of lovely shiny kit out there, and zillions of both positive and negative reviews on each of them. And there are clones, and clones of clones. It's easy to see why - the genuine items are exceedingly expensive, whereas you only pay a fraction of the price for a clone, and some of them differ very little from the genuine item. Personally I will be going for a clone to start with and if I like it I might consider lashing out on the real thing later. Also, I've decided not to bother with the likes of SlowTech and VapourBreak and buy my clone from a UK retailer. It will cost more but I believe it will be easier to deal with any problems that may arise. Finally, it may seem a cop out, but I will go for a regulated mod - which means getting a Kick as well, which obviously adds to the cost, especially if you buy a decent Evolv one. Then of course you need to make sure that your chosen mod can take a Kick, with your preferred battery sizes. The downside of using a Kick is that it will not be possible to use sub-ohm coils. See Grimm Green's Video on Unregulated VapingPersonally I don't like the look of telescopic mods, although they do easily deal with the issue of fitting a Kick, so my intended mod will be the HCigar Nemesis mod, which is not telescopic but does come with a small extra tube to accomodate a Kick. I've just taken the plunge myself, and ordered a nemesis clone and kick from FT. Actually, I've ordered two. Of both.
Yes, I know.
Like you, I wanted to try things out before spending a fortune on mechs, and I've heard good things about this device. I considered the magneto but wanted something as light as possible in 18350 - telescope tubes are heavy, I have a tele tube for my evic.
Because it's coming from china and it's 10 day shipping, I've probably got until February before I see it. I'm very happy with my current gear, but this seemed a logical step to take.
