My 11 year old car passed with no problems at all, one less thing to worry about this side of Christmas. Dave

My 20 year old Volvo tank sails through each time... Hope I don't have to regret saying that!

Great news.
All of mine are due between now and Feb 4th. (Three of them).
Now, I wonder if Fasttech can send me some brake parts, light bulbs, catalytic converter, air mass sensor... ? ???

My eldest who has been driving since may this year has a 13 year old VW lupo, she told me a while ago that it was regularly stalling on her at junctions. Obviously I advised her to get it checked out ASAP. We know nowt about cars in our house, so when she told me it seemed to be ok I thought no more about it. We recently agreed to meet in a car park and to my horror I watched her come round a very busy roundabout and saw the car die on her leaving her stuck in the middle of the road with no power steering fighting to get it to start again. I was legging it across the car park to get to her ( god knows what I intended to do) when it burst into life and she pulled in next to me. She leapt out totally unconcerned saying 'oh it does that all the time'. I was horrified and insisted we take it straight to a garage which is where it still is, I have no doubt we are facing a large bill but I cannot believe she was happy to continue driving it in that condition, if it had been me I would have abandoned it after the first couple of times and taken the bus! Kids have no fear, she informed me I was being dramatic when I threatened to take the keys away if she drove it again before having it looked at!

tmg I believe the throttle body on those can be problematic, carb cleaner may help. Fuel filter and mass air flow sensor would be next on my list and change air filter for a few quid is always worth changing. I advise everybody to own a cheap engine code reader then if a garage is needed you can go armed with a little info, it always knocks the grease monkey back a little. Join car specific forums aswell theres some really good ones out there with lots of info and helpful members. Often members will do work for you for hobnobs and tea money if they're local. Oh and last but not least a Haynes manual, you'd be surprised how simple some jobs can be and they're spanner rated 1-5. Jay EDIT: Here you go, quick google search and a VW Lupo owners forum, I'm sure you will find a wealth of knowledge forums.clublupo.co.uk/

Thanks JayJ, excellent idea to find a car specific forum and also to do some home maintenance, I can see us both out there with a Haynes manual and a spanner in each hand lol. Despite its current problems it's a nice little car which with some care and attention should serve her well for a while longer. Unfortunately it's too small for me to drive, being 6ft tall I can't get my knees under the steering wheel so she knows I won't be borrowing it...
