If you want a 'Plug and Play" then the MVP from Innokin is grand. It's got Variable Voltage and Wattage, lasts all day, is robust, reliable and has a 510 Connection. After that you are looking at rechargeable Batteries and a MOD, now it gets complicated. shiny???

DNA20 At about £150? Or a vamo by slowboat for about £25? Depends on your budget and how long you are prepared to wait geordie_vaper

Well, if you want the BEST you have to pay to play, so that would be Provari or Semovar. Expensive, yes, but I have heard no-one complain about these mods.
I have a Vamo and a Sid, as well as a couple of mech mods (Nemesis FT clone and a Siam Mods Hex), and I REALLY like them both. So much so, I'm thinking of getting another couple mechanicals. But as far as VV/VW devices go, I am really considering a Semovar, or if Provape bring out a VW Provari, I will go that route.
But I'm guessing you don't ACTUALLY MEAN best mod, and really mean best cost effective mod. In which case, you can't really go too far wrong with another Vamo. If your getting another one, I would personally go for a V5 though. But as you already have one, why not try something else? Like an SVD.

Almost everyone will have a slightly different notion of what best means, and as there are so many out there its probably only a handful of people in the world that have tried enough of them to be truly qualified to answer. I don't think any of them are prepared to make that pronouncement as they realise when it comes to best, like everything in vaping, its personal preference that matters.
An interesting development over the past couple of months is Mechanical - electronic hybrids. The kick has been around for about a year, there are some different variations on that theme now. Both internal and external. China has come up with a 510 screw on Vamo head, Zen is at the point of launching a side mounted add on for the Zenesis range, there are some screw ons coming out of Greece and the Golden Greek has something coming up very soon. There is also an electronic VW mod that has a Mech override setting to bypass the electronics, I cant think of the name though. Things are moving faster and faster all the time, there are some amazing new things just around the corner.
The Vamo is about a year old now - it became one of this years must have mods and could be seen as milestone for many reasons. I think its biggest achievement is to still be selling in huge numbers when so many other devices have come and gone. Right now China are still waiting for the next Vamo.

It's almost like the industrial revolution of the mod world! Interesting to see what's soon to be on the market, based on your post markm. I'm only three months into VW/VV &most of my education is from this ere forum. Which is fantastic for info&friendly, learned people. I'm going to go for innokin's SVD for my second mod&use my Vamo2 as back up. It is a trusty unit. markm, would you kindly indulge my ignorance&perhaps give me a brief insight into 'Mech Mods'? I have an idea of how they function, with only battery&atomizer, But would be really interested to hear I little more about they work.

The idea or a mech mod is to be as simple as possible. They are just a battery holder, switch and atomiser connection. No wires anywhere, no electronics. This has the advantage of being robust, the simpler anything is thelesscan go wrong. They also have other advantages as they do not limit power supply. An electronic device needs to protect its circuitry and switch, which can only cope with A particular power level. Generally the upper limit is the amp rating of the switch. With a mech mod the user is the one who sets the limits, by what they attach to it. This is where some understanding of battery safety can become important. If you are going to use rebuildable devices, make your ow coils, then there is The possibility of overloading your batter. To know you are working within safe Limits it is useful to know the max drain rating of your battery and what power Your coil is going to draw from that battery. So you will need to start looking at ohms law.
Having said all that, you can just attach an Iclear30, pop in a freshly charged battery and Enjoy a great vape. Mech mods, they can be what you want to make of them.

As I've been vaping for less than a year it's still a voyage of discovery for me.... I have greatly enjoyed both Provari and Semovar, but the recent loan of a Nemesis has been a revelation. With a fresh battery the vape has a smoothness and depth of flavour that is very satisfying indeed. A dual coiled Ithaka on Nemesis (no Kick) is currently redefining my ultimate vape (to date). I'm using high capacity Panasonic unprotected batteries with a Vapesafe fuse and that seems to work wonderfully with the coil resistance (1.2 to 1.3 ohms) and my fave juices.
My conclusion so far is that whilst a quality electronic mod like Semovar will definitely perform beautifully over a wide range of circumstances, a first class mech mod with the right coil/atty/juice may well be the ultimate vape - although you do definitely need to experiment to find the best setup.
So I think the 'best' mod will depend a lot on which approach you favour.
