Dry Eye

Went to the Optician to get my Eyes tested,because for the past 2 months I have been getting sore eyes,tired and dry.It was as though I had a piece of Grit in my right Eye.He tested my Eyes and said there was no Debris in them,and my Eye sight was good,but I had what he called Dry Eye.I got Drops for them,so its all Good.I told him I Vaped,and started Vaping 4 months ago.He said the Dry Eye could be down to the Vaping,or a lot of Other things.Anyone Else Experienced Dry Eye? or had it since they have Vaped.Don't want to Stop Vaping,but if its affecting my Eyes I might.I do Drink which I think is plenty Water,maybe I should be Drinking more.

Hi Romney, yes I have dry eyes and need eye cream for night and eye drops for the day time, these are available on prescription, ask your Dr.
Nothing to do with Vaping, I think it is 'age related' .

Hi Phoenix,thanks for Replying.I got Viscotears for through the day,and Lacri-Lube for bedtime,my.Eyes are ok now.I just wondered if anyone else thought the Dry Eye was down to Vaping,as it Dehydrate,s you.'age related'  im not that old  45 years old.

My optician said I had dry eyes about 4 months before I started vaping! I took one course of gel to put in at night. I still get it sometimes but now I know its nothing serious I just get on with it. Oh and I'm only 30 btw

Hiya Tommy,thanks for that.I think nowadays people just Automatically link any health changes to Vaping(Optician) I did Google it and found out its Common.Just my Wife dosent Vape,and she Blames Vaping .

I have it, to the extent I can not make tears anymore.

Lacri-lube is horrible stuff, you don't need to go down that route.

Nothing vape related with me, just general wear and tear on the eyes.

Nothing wrong with my vision can read the bottom line of the chart perfectly.

Since vaping there has been no change at all in my dry eye condition, I go for 3 monthly eye check ups for another reason.

If you pay for your drops the cheapest best drops are from boots, their own - Hypromellose (sp), use daily at least twice, more often if required.

If you use a pc a lot, or watch tv, or sit in central heating, out in the wind, in dusty conditions etc etc use them through the day as well, otherwise your eyes start to sting.

I haven't reached the grand old age of 45 yet, developed it around the good old age of life begins at 40 lol.

And I am only 37

Sorry to hijack this thread romney , Phoenix ., you and I both have dry eyes, and both have an aneurism in our left eye.

Do you have any other eye problems?

Just wondering if their is a connection.

Around the time I started vaping, I developed some eye problems. However, there were other factors as well in my day to day life, so I can't say for sure which is the problem.
Firstly, I got very itchy and dry eyes and eventually developed something like a stye in my right eye. This got quite big before I eventually managed to get rid of it with compresses and regular eye baths, then I developed one in my other eye and did the same thing. They both calmed down after a while but left small lumps beneath the eyelid, which I can still feel. They show no signs of leaving, but don't cause me much bother apart from being itchy at times.
At the same time as this, I woke up one morning to find lots of yellowish - whitish spots underneath my eye sockets, on both sides. These just appeared overnight and haven't gone away, nor have they got worse. I've been told that they are little accumulations of cholestorol or fat that haven't been able to escape (?), so they gather there.
I'm 41 and I work in a very dusty environment, so I expect to have eye trouble occasionally, but it did seem weird how all these things happened within a few weeks of me starting vaping.... or was it within a few weeks of me stopping smoking tobacco??

I have acute angle glaucoma as well, which is hereditary in my case, all found at the same time - my pressures were way too high, had to have extra holes put in my eyes under the eyelid, like a second pupil, thankfully my sight was not affected but was told if I didn't have it done I could go blind anytime.

Oh that's really bad Sammy, I don't have it that bad, good that you had the op then. I have no problem making tears, I cry easily when emotionally upset.

Seven months vaping with no problems at all, I don't think it has anything to do with this. Sounds like a comment from a person that doesn't know anything about vaping and was looking for an answer.
