Lidl ultrasonic cleaner ... KEEP YOUR RECEIPT

Like many on the forum, I purchased the Silvercrest ultrasonic cleaner that Lidl had on sale from last Monday. At £19.99 it seemed to be a bargain. I used it a few times to clean atties and some of my wife's jewelry and although it buzzed and appeared to be working, I was not overly impressed with the results. This morning I decided to clean my watch, electric shaver head and a few small jewellery items. The first cycle with the watch and shaver head went OK but again not overly impressed. I removed the watch and shaver head, emptied out the water and refilled with cold water. I then inserted the small jewelry items, set the timer and switched on. The blue light shone, the timer started it's count down but no buzzing or water agitation. After the cycle finished, I opened the lid to remove the jewelry and the water was still cold. I tried it a couple more times but no buzzing, water agitation or water heating ... it was fubar!

I took it back to Lidl where they refunded my money on production of my receipt. I then went to Maplin's where for an extra £10 I bought the JPL Ultra 7000 which was on sale with a £15 reduction at £29.99  ....  a totally different animal  ...  every thing that I have put into it comes up like new.

Perhaps the one that I got from Lidl was just a one off but I would advise those of you have bought one to keep your receipt  ... you have 28 days from date of purchase to return it with no questions asked.

Think the Ultra 7000 is the one that ALDI get in on a regular basis & a lot of folks have, worth keeping a look out

I got a JPL 7000 from Amazon, for just shy of £30

I have been using the neighbours Ultra 7000 for months, that way you don't pay anything.

Glad you got sorted FFS, alls well that ends well.

I got the Ultra 7000 from Aldi earlier this year and works a treat.....but it does not have a water heater. I didnt think any of them at this sort of price heats the water!
I just use hot water from the tap, but beware, I cleaned my Taifun GT using very hot water and it shrunk the clear tank to the point that it it would no longer fit....so an expensive mistake.
Back to the main subject, I would not want to be without my U.Sonic cleaner, everything comes out sparkling clean.

When I eventually get false teeth, I am going to stick them in there.........in fact I will stick them in, along with an attie and drip tip, and have a crafty vape whilst I sleep.

They don't have a water heater as such Greigster but the agitation of the water during the cleaning cycle causes it to heat up. The one from Lidl recommends using cold water which, when it was operating OK, did heat up the water. The ultra 7000 recommends using warm water (but not hot) from the start.

There I was smug as anything, cleaning tanks, steeping juice, even taking 20 years of grime off my darts, well chuffed. Today, the light comes on, the digit count down, and that's it. Fished the box and packaging out of the bin, but can't find the bleeping receipt. I even read this thread after I got back from lidl yesterday!!!

Bloody things are useless, just had to send my jpl 7000 back to amazon as the time wouldnt set past 180 seconds, bloody pain in arse, would rather add some pounds for a decent one tbh

I recently bought the jpl7050 from ebay. Being able to remove the tank from the base unit is a massive pluspoint for me..

Had it since August and it's been faultless.

Going to sound naive here

I bought one of these last week.

It buzzes on start up, but didn't really see any agitation and the water is certainly not warm when it's finished.

Tried my watch no great difference.

Tried some Novas in there and they came out clean and smelling new but now wondering if that's dunking them in a mixture of cold water and Milton rather than the cleaner doing anything.

TBH wasn't entirely sure of how they should work.

What should i be seeing/hearing on the cleaning cycle?
