Hi, Noob here just sayin ‘hello’. Just discovered this vaping lark about a month back, and decided to give it a go as I’ve wanted to give up on the real tabs for a while. Trouble is I’m weak willed, especially after a couple of drinks! Anyways, I was completely unaware of vaping till someone pointed me at the SKY Cig site (www.skycig.co.uk). After taking a look I thought wow, if anything could get me off tobacco that would. So I bought one of their starter packs. Soon as it arrived, I swapped straight over to the SKY e-cig, and have managed to keep off the ‘analogues’ for 4 weeks now without too much problem (barring 1 day when I ran out of cartomizers,). Thing is, after using the SKY cigs for a month now I can see the downsides, the batteries need recharging 4-6 times a day, and cartomizers seem to lose their taste/hit very quickly (and vary a lot). Also the cost is pretty steep (just using 2 SKY cartomizers a day is more expensive than real tabs for me!). An upside for me though is they are pretty similar to a real cig in size and weight, so it feels natural when ‘smoking’ (So less chance of 'relapsing'). After checking around it looks like I’ve probably chosen the ‘wrong’ kit for longer term vaping . So I’ve just gone and ordered a 510 starter kit + a usb pass through from Cloud9vaping, as they seem to have a good rep around here. Few questions though: 1. Should I have maybe gone for Riva instead? (bit late for that now though, heh) 2. Can I upgrade to a Riva just by buying a Riva battery and attaching the 510 bits to it? 3. Are the standard 510 charger and usb pass through usable with Riva cartomizers etc? 4. What fitting type is the SKY cig, and can I attach 510/Riva bits to it? Apologies if my post is a bit of an epic, I’m just well chuffed that I can drop the evil weed, but still get my ciggy smoking sensation! All the best, John

Hello!! A warm welcome to the wonderful world of vaping and many congratulations John on doing so well! I'll have to do a bit of research on the Sky cig to see what sort of fitting it is before I can answer that one. But, I'd have to say I would have gone for a Riva kit rather than the standard 510, you'll be in a similar situation with that as you are now. . . I'd cancel the Cloud9 order if it's not too late or see if Lisa would be prepared to exchange it for a Riva. We've some great Suppliers on the forum, with our discount codes we can probably sort you out a good deal . . . I'll go look and be back with some links for you. Jason from Vape Escape has this: www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Deluxe+Vaping+Kits+%3E+Riva+1100+KitI think his 10% discount code is: allabout You can use your 510 atomiser's with a 510 Riva battery but you will need the Riva charger - although very often it works out cheaper to buy a complete kit rather than the individual pieces.

I second everything Perpetua has said, I would definatley go for the Riva over the 510 (I started on a 510) as a battery will last you all day depending on how heavy you vape.

Hello & welcome Flimflam The Sky cig is a super mini - could be a DSE103? As Perpy says, if you can cancel/change your order for a Riva, you will get far better battery life from one than a 510.

Found this video for the Skycig, but can't remember what the atomiser is. . .

Hi guys, Thanks for the replies, it's much appreciated So the battery life on the 510 won't be any better than the SKY Cig? My order's dispatched from Cloud9vaping, but once it's arrived I'll maybe email them (Lisa is it?) and see if they'd be ok to exchange the 510 for a Riva. The 510 usb passthrough should still be OK for use with any 510/Riva Atomizer/cartomizer though yes? Jemima - thanks, and same to you ! Cheers, John

Yes John, you will be able to use the same atomisers etc on your 510 passthrough. As long as they are standard resistance atomiserrs/cartomisers.

Hi, Got my 510 from Lisa today, and she's happy to exchange it for a Riva kit, so as you suggested I've got that underway. Just in case anyone else out there is interested, the fittings on the 510 usb passthrough seem to be identical to those on the SKY Cig, so I can happily refill and use my SKY cartomizers on the passthrough (and Riva once it arrives). Sorted Right. Time to check out some flavours methinks. Cheers, John

SKYCig was the first device I purchased and by far my worst mistake to date...
I can confirm that it is a both a 510 fitting and is completely and utterly useless! A shame since it cost me £38.00 and I also bought 6 Packs of Menthol and 6 Packs of Vanilla Carts for it (around 75.00 in total)...
Riva 510 from Lisa was my next purchase and it was the correct one at the time - I have many more Mods now BUT still use the Riva.
Later...

Hi MIDIMan, Lol, snap. That's pretty much exactly what I bought. Except I got Marlboro flavour. The cartomizers seemed to run dry really quickly, and there wasn't much vapour even when fresh. I wouldn't say it was a complete disaster though, it was good enough to get me off real tabs for a month, and the scary overall cost was what got me looking for alternatives, and that brought me here . (Dang, put that way I could even convince meself that it was an investment ) Must've been the same for you I imagine, so overall the SKY cigs did us both a favour . Not that they'll be gettin any more of my cash mind, I'll just refill thier empty cartomizers till they burn out! Cheers, John

Completely agree John that it wasn't a complete disaster It not only introduced you to e-cigs but also wasn't that expensive. I'll never forget someone posting in my old eBay group saying they had paid over £250.00 for an e-cig from a stall in a US mall while on holiday in the states

That's brilliant news John, think you'll be much, much happier with the Riva! I'd reckon a fair number of us spent money on a looky likey ecig initially, only to find there were better alternatives available . . . but it did show us it was possible to find an alternative to cigarettes that actually works, so it's not a wasted exercise. Edit to say: £250! Ye gods Chris!
