Hi Guys, I have the Russian 91% clone from VapourBreak (Kayfun Lite with air flow control) .... I also have the Kayfun 3.1 es clone from Modsandatties. Both of these clones are terrific RBAs which give a brilliant vape with a 1.5 ohm microcoil and cotton set up. The problem is that the Russian won't stop whistling as air is drawn in through the air intake hole .... adjusting the air control screw doesn't make any difference to the whistle. The Kayfun 3.1 es clone on the other hand is whistle free. Has anyone else got this problem with the Russian 91% clone (or a genuine Russian 91% or Kayfun Lite Plus for that matter) and more to the point does anyone know how to fix it? If I don't get it sorted, it is going into the drawer as spare parts for the Kayfin 3.1 because it is doing my head in.

You could always use it if you wanna do a wolf whistle at a sexy lady and if you get pulled up by the police you can always say "It was me officer, it was the Russian 91%"

You've probably already done this but check for any minute bits of swarf in the intake.
Failing that I have no idea..
You could swap bits between the two to narrow it down?

Dan I put it through the ultrasonic cleaner for 8 mins when I first got it and no trace of swarf etc. stamina Thanks to your link, I have picked up a few hints and I have managed to get rid of the whistle I opened up the air flow screw to give maximum air flow but didn't remove the screw altogether. I then put a slim piece of sellotape over the air hole and pierced the scellotape with a needle to give the tightish air flow that I prefer. ETA: If you prefer an airy draw you can simply remove the air flow screw altogether and this will also get rid of the whistle

I have one of these, and the whistle was driving me slightly nuts.
First thing I tried - not the most un-invasive first thing I could have chosen to try, in retrospect - was to put a bit of a chamfer on the mouth of the air-hole, with a countersink. Little or no improvement. Had at it again, boring out the airhole slightly with a diamond tip in the drem-alike. At this point, with the grub screw very nearly closed, there was no whistle. The draw was a little tighter than I would like, but better a tight draw than the whistle.
Just now I've been off to look at the FT thread, and tried the scrap of mesh in the air-hole thing - which stopped the whistle, but the draw was even tighter than previously. Then I removed the grub screw, and closed off the air-hole itself. There's a slight whine, when drawing hard, but the whistle is gone. So it will be either that, or back to almost-closed air-way, according to whichever I find myself preferring.
It strikes me that if I can get hold of a very, very fine needle file, I might try to take the edge off that junction between air-way and grub-screw passage, but that will be for another day.

Was inside the centre post just below where the airhole was drilled. Had to poke it out with a needle..

I don't reckon that I had any swarf in mine as I back flushed both the juice feed and the air hole with a syringe and hot water before I cleaned it in the UC and no muck came out .... I think the whistle is inherent in these kayfun lite clones and is due to the shape of the air hole / air control screw interface.

Take the centre post completely out and hold it up to a light. If you look through it from the top (smallest hole) it will be more apparent if there is indeed any blockages..

No that definitely is not the case, I ordered 2 of these one polished the other frosted (or whatever they call it ) the polished is perfect but the frosted whistles like a steam train I have tried comparing to see any differences but can't see any A real puzzler
