Just sent for a Kanger e smart starter kit yesterday - moving on from e'lights which I used a while ago to cut down. Hoping to kick it into touch this year and really looking forward to trying some of the flavours, as well as probably mixing some of my own (can I use pure cane rum)!!!!??!?!?!?!!!! maybe with just a touch of coconut milk...... Hello & welcome Janine Although the Kanger e smart starter kit is still a pretty small battery & will need recharging often, you will find it an improvement from your elite

Hi & welcome to the forum, Janine. You can thin mixes with vodka or gin, so you may get away with a drip of rum.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks, and Jess... nice to know I may be able to get in a nip as well as a vape ..... off to find out how to do the banner thingy ready for when it arrives tomorrow (and to have a peep at the recipes section)!

OK.... first question... (lol... you said I could)! I am going to be getting a kit for my daughters also, but thought I would try them out first to give me room to change my mind and 'move on up'..... what would be a good buy and not too expensive for one that has a battery that lasts a full day and would also allow me to mix my own potions?? There's a fine line between a hobby and mental illness... I think I just crossed it!

Hi JanineI'd recommend a vision spinner with either an iclear 16 or a mini protank on top. The spinner should last you most of the day. Unless you go for an MVP2 which would definitely last a full day, but might be a bit too different for you? Whatever you do decide on, you'll need a back-up battery and clearomizer with some spare coil heads. The iclear 16 heads last for a good couple of weeks, but they are dual coil, so quite juice thirsty. The mini protank heads don't last as long and the tank is glass, so you need to be careful not to drop them, but they do give a lovely cool vape

OK.... first question... (lol... you said I could)! OK, first of all, any juices that you mix yourself can be used in any 'tank' (clearomiser, as they are usually referred to as ). You don't need a special kit for this. Secondly, the larger the physical size of the battery, the higher Mah rating it has (this means that a 650mah battery will last about 4-6 hours, whereas a 2000mah battery will last about 24 hours). Here are some options for battery - Myepack Spinner 1300mah - this battery will use an USB charger, although these work better from a wall plug similar to those which most mobile phones use now, rather than plugged into your computer; this can damage your hardware inside the computer too, apparently. The other advantage of the Spinner is that you have control over the power supplied to the coil of your atomiser - this works from 3.3v to 4.8v, the higher the power the more vapour and throat hit is produced, up to the point where the wick can't get the juice to the coil quickly enough and you get a burnt taste - not pleasant! Once you move up to larger batteries again, you need something called a 'mod' to house the battery, plus a bigger charger which is usually mains powered. These 18650 batteries would last the best part of a day between charges (get two so one can be charging whiile the other is in use!), and this is the charger that you would need. To house the battery, the best starter mod would be something like a Vamo which has all sorts of additional freatures too. As well as the option of changing the voltage like the Spinner, you can switch to Variable Wattage. This adjusts the power to the atomiser so that you get the same vape even if you change over the tank to one with another ohm rating. (Should explain this - lower ohms - resistance - means more power gets to the coil. Think of a hosepipe - lower diameter/resistance, more water gets through, higher diameter/resistance, less gets through - make sense?). You could save a bit by buying the complete Vamo kit, but to be honest the batteries aren't brilliant, but would get you through the first couple of months before their charge holding capacity starts to tail off. I'm sure I've missed loads out, and others will come along to suggest other things, but for my money, I would go for this: Myepack Spinner 1300mahMini Protank kitThis would give you a small battery to keep you vaping while the Spinner charges, and the Mini Protanks are a great vape, with easily changeable heads (remember that these do have a finite lifespan, dying after a week - 10 days, so you will need some more of these at some point). Hope this helps you through this minefield a bit, but do bear in mind that I have only used one website as an example, there are many more vendors, selling these items at different prices. That said, Ash at Myepack does sell the genuine article, and his delivery times are first class, and his prices are very competitive.
