Ok, I know that it's not gold and that it's a clone but for a tenner this FT clone is a bargain!
First thing I did was it pull out the pre-installed wicks and coils and set it up with a single microcoil. It works perfectly and the only complaint I have may be a positive. The o-rings on the air control are tight but the upside is that there is no way this thing is going to fall off your mod.
I gave it a clean in an ultrasonic baths hen it arrived even though there was no machine oil smell at all.
A bit +1 for the Trident clone from FT from me. It only took two weeks from order to delivery which I find more than acceptable for a tenner too.

Thanks for the tip matey. I had that in my basket for ages but ended up opting for the Kraken clone. I didn't order it that long ago so I'll see what that's like when it turns up before deciding whether to go for the Taifun.
Suddenly my vape budget seems to be going slightly further than it used to...

Good thing about this device is that you can remove the screws from the posts and lay the wires down on the slots. Makes multiple coils a breeze!

Been looking at that as fancy a rebuildable dripper. Got a cheap normal stopper and great flavour compared to clearo, and I change flavours to frequently in day to justify kayfun etal just yet. How many drops do you use? Sorry newbie alert!

boyofford - what are you going to use for your wick? If your using cotton then make sure that it is pretty drenched. Keep your eye on it from time to time and you won't get any dry hits. If you, you'll know about it pretty damn quick!
I need to try more silica wick builds in an RDA but, as cotton works for me, I'm putting it off until something new and shiny arrives in the post.

Thanks What's the total ohm reading, allowing for the four coils and what was the wire gauge. Hope its ok asking. What voltage/wattage are you running when you fire it up? And what wick are you about to run in it? Sorry to ask so much but I love my Trident and am getting well into coiling on it. I can't see me wanting another RDA.

Thanks siclanTo be honest I hadn't thought about it much lol! I've not done any coils yet and was just going so suck it and see. Need to get some ekowool and kanthal for recoiling protank coils, suppose would start with that, though wool is pretty easy to get hold of too. Just been trying to figure out their shipping options, what do most people use?

No sweat buddy! It was 0.30mm kanthal. Came to 0.25ohms! I used it on a mech mod with a fresh battery at 4.2v. This means I was vaping at 70 watts! I'm not sorry I tried it but it was way way too intense for me! Might try it again with thinner wire to bring up that resistance a bit. If you're interested in trying a build like this make sure you know the amp limits on your batteries. You'll need a battery with a 20amp max discharge rate (I use the samsung INR 20amp batteries) or there could be serious safety issues!!

What would a variable wattage device make of this? I.e. if set to ten watts does each coil effectively run at 2.5 watts or 10watts each? Pretty sure my MVP doesn't even register the ohms at that low a value anyhow, think it goes down to 1 or 1.5 ohms.

Yeah your MVP wouldn't fire that build. No VV device would! Sub-ohming (building coils that have a less than 1.0 ohm resistance) is something you shouldn't attempt without researching it first as there are very real safety issues if you don't know what you're doing. You might be able to make a quad coil of around 1.2 ohms but you'd have to use very thin wire and a lot of it! I'd stick to your dual coils for the time being mate, much safer and less throat scorching! they're all I vape these days. The quad coil was just an experiment.

Interesting what battery to use on that set up! Once I get my mod up and running I shall be experimenting though it will take a while to reach that level for sure! You could light a BBQ with that LOL. great stuff cheers!
