There was more choice apart from sliver and copper mods, just something a bit different. Everything just looks the same. Im window shopping for a mech mod at the moment and its just a sea of sliver and copper tubes, want to find something with a bit of personality and character, something to stand out from the crowd, but not much luck so far. And no, i don't want the knob or grenade mods.

I think it's just a matter of taste....I like box mods and don't really get on with anything that involves screwing tubes into other tubes, but my extreme clumsiness might have something to do with it! (one day, I will hunt down whoever invented reverse threaded locking mechanisms and cut his fingers, because that's what he repeatedly does to me!)

Mods look terrible but you get a bit of extra battery power. If you're not worried about your batteries lasting a bit longer you don't need a mod. A mod is a battery inside a steel tube. Who ever thought that would be attractive? Well, nobody really, but there are increasingly desperate attempts out there to make them sound desirable.
It's a battery in a steel tube. Don't be a fool and spend 200 quid on a battery inside a 'nice' steel tube. Just IMO.

At least with vv devices, you're also getting electronics and various built in features for your money, but most mech mods are just metal tubes with contacts. There are many people who appreciate a hand made, engraved metal tube and will shell out big money for them, but they don't appeal to me enough for me to spend that much on them.

The argument seems to be that they last you a long time. The same people then ditch their 'everlasting steel tube' and spend a fortune on the next 'everlasting steel tube' that comes into fashion. So much for that then.

There is no electronic device available that can cope with The kind of vaping I do, a DNA20 gets close but would still feel Like it was time to reach for a fresh battery. I do agree that mech mods have inthe main become a fashion statement, But still no need to be so prejudiced. If they are not your preference Then that's fine, but let the rest of us make our own choices please.

I understand that there are good, functional reasons why some people prefer to use mech mods and I respect your freedom to buy whatever you want with your money, but I still don't understand why some mech mods have become so sought after and expensive. I guess that's partly because I prefer vv devices, which suit the kind of vaping I do and I've got nothing against people who spend hundreds of pounds on mechs....I just find it a bit puzzling!

I must admit to having fallen to temptation in the past, only ever used Clones though as I would worry about losing/damaging any thing else more expensive. But now I have got lazy about coiling (which is how i controled the quality on Mechs) and have settled on a couple of VV/VW box mods. Suits me for my needs (getting my Nicotine into my body!!) Still, horses for courses what ever works for a person then I say good luck and go for it.

I didn't buy my first ego battery till 2 years into vaping. I just prefer mods. I destroy them pretty easily too. As markm says it's personal choice and please don't diss those who you can't fathom why they would choose x,y or z. That's the whole thing about vaping. It's about individual choice and please be respectful as you would wish others to be to you
