When I am working in wood Super-Shiny I always scribe a line with a sharp pointed craft knife rather than mark with a pencil as this gives a distinct mark to cut, chisel or plane to, so I would suggest carefully scribing around the mini usb connector with a craft knife.

Your dremel flamethrower has heated blade, will slice it like butter but practice on old piece of plastic first cut a little smaller and file slowly to right size

I've got numerous abs/plastic boxes here that all but melted when I was drilling holes in them

wasn't the box you had for your mod a metal one? I've got numerous abs/plastic boxes here that all but melted when I was drilling holes in them Box is Aluminum but i ain't using the box cover, using this instead: 3mm Dark Blue Tint Acrylic Sheet Polished

I usually drill two 2.5mm holes next to each other and then file to fit. If I have several to do then I'll usually drill one hole in each on the pillar drill and then cut them all out on the scrollsaw.
