Just noticed my "Smoke free since" banner .... 79,440 cigs avoided. The last pack of 20 fags that I bought cost about £6.50 if I remember correctly so that means that I have avoided spending £25,818, so why am I still skint?

Because there is always something else to spend it on lol! Very true and at least I am still alive to ask this question ... dread to think what those 79,440 cigs would have done to my health

I think the answer lies in the fact that us humans will often spend up to our means, as in, because you now have a lot more disposable income, you will automatically spend it on something else. I have justified my recent extravagant purchase based on the amount of money I haven't spent in the last 15mths. The last time I looked at the price of the cigarettes I used to smoke, they were nearly £8.00 a pack and I smoked more than one a day!

Ditto I haven't got a penny to my name I was in coop last night and I was just browsing over the prices while I was paying it's frightening nearly £9 on some brands.

The thing that troubles me is that I can't think of what it has been spent on .... I feel a bit like George Best who when asked where his fortune had gone replied that he spent some on booze, some on fast cars and women and just squandered the rest LOL.

It feels like we have no more money than we did when hubby and I were both smoking. Then I see my kids with presents, and being able to buy them things whenever I want instead of just the end of the month.
Don't get me wrong it's only been 5 months, but our lives are so much more comfortable without the fags!!

I'm certainly no richer, but I have a very bad case of shinyitus.
That and I bought a new car, and justified the extra expense per month from what I would save not smoking.

Every guy knows that is no such thing as "spare cash" when SWMBO is in a shopping mood.
