Hi people! I get that steeping is required to let flavours to spread evenly or mature, and different flavours require different amount of time, possibly to due with molecule size I guess. However, does the nicotine also require the steeping time? I've got a common peppery taste in my mixes, which I'm pretty convinced fades with steeping at 2 weeks. I've made up some 0mg and mix with nicotine to see if was nic base and sure it is now. Thinking I could make up a large volume, say 250ml, of nic base, pg, vg with no flavour and let it steep and use for mixes... does this sound like a good idea? Will play with proportions so allow for dilution of nic and vg when flavour added. This would also speed up my mixing as only need to add flavour then... guessing nothing wrong with doing this way though?Off to do this on monday, so any comments for or against before much appreciated
Cheers Rich

That's exactly how I make my DIY juices. Because I mix 99% of mine with 15% flavour I make up my base so that I can just 15% of any flavour. I can always mix up or down if I try something new.

I've heard that nic base can taste peppery but I haven't noticed it myself. I tend only to mix fruit types which take very little steeping and as my taste is shot I mix at at least 15% flavouring. A few people mix base liquid up allowing for flavours to be added later but I don't myself so can't say if it speeds up steepin

It's only my personal preference but I mix my base up as I need it; I mix at a variety of different strengths so there's not really any advantage to be had in having the premixed base. I think it's more about the flavours combining with both each other and the base TBH, so not sure if you would gain any time using premix. It's all just a question of patience!

If you've a load of mixes you make at a set percentage it must save a boat load of faffing around! I'm about to do a mega batch of samples at 20%, about 30 of them, and you guys just helped me immensely

Am wondering to be honest if my nic might be spoiled, keep in fridge at mo, pending moving to freezer but ain't had it long. Hope not as got 250ml, is surprisingly yellow. Not used heat to steep so that can't be the issue.

Nic should last about 2 years if stored in cool place but the natural taste of nic is slightly peppery maybe you just need to add slightly more flavour for your taste

I had a flavour west one went peppery, only one and no other manufacturers though.

sorry to jump in but sounds a good idea just making sure i have it right, say make up 200ml of 80/20 pg/vg 12mg, then when its needed measure it out then add your % of concentrate to it then there you go sorted?

Yeah, looks like that:) Using various % for flavouring, highest mix I've made was 30% and lowest 10% but all have slight taste... Could even taste in red astaire which couldn't taste in premix, other flavours have been from joosejuice and cupcake world. Same % flavouring without nic ain't peppery, will do more experimenting.

That's bizarre then, I've heard of peppery nic before but not come across it myself, just a concentrate that went that way. The final test would be to make a ml up with no flavour and see what that's like. The only other thing I can think of is if you're using a dripper and your actually sucking raw juice up with your vape, then your tasting the actual raw nic.

If you do this then add 20% flavour geordie_vaper, then you'll end up with 84% pg 16% vg and 9.6% nic. to keep it nice and easy I suggest you make 70/30 at 15mg then when you add 20% flavour you'll end up with 76/24 at 12mg, i think ink ive got that right

Maybe, I'm mostly using a rda now which does makes taste n nic stronger, can still taste in protank minis but less so. Think I'm gona get some more nic from somewhere else for comparison at some point. Current stuff is vapable just maybe not right. I've tried few ml of vg pg mix with no flavour and it ain't got that taste. Neither does 0mg of same flavour. I've been diluting some of my mixes in dripper with 0mg otherwise o.d. on nic anyhow lol.
