Semi-positive clip this morning, talking about the new proposed laws on selling fags to under-18s, and the same with e-cigs (which I think most of us would agree with). Had a bloke on from another cancer charity saying e-cigs much safer alternative to tobacco, and when asked about e-cigs a s a gateway to fags, admitted the recent studies didn't back up this fear.

Also saying new ban sales to under 18s ...I just said that !! overall better than expected, and majority of vapers would agree about not selling to under-18s

He made a good point about the medical profession fearing that ecigs will reverse the trend that has seen smoking decline to an all time low ... they fear that the rise of ecigs will allow "smoking" to be seen as socially acceptable once again.

Wonder if you added 1.3 million back in what that would do to the "all-time low" rate ??

Yep.. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25900542Dunno how market vendors are affected but a law banning sales to under 18's is positive in the sense that it strengthens the case that existing regulations are robust enough without unnecessary medical licensing.

I think the fear is that if, through ecigs becoming socially acceptable, then all "smoking" will once again become socially acceptable ... The medical fraternity have fought and to a large extent won the war to make tobacco smoking socially unacceptable and they fear that this will be undone. If smoking were to become acceptable once again and be allowed in pubs, work places etc, how many would remain on or even go back to the ciggies ... this is the horror vision of the medical profession.

NOT SMOKING and this is the message that we as vapers and the whole e-cig lobby need to educate the public, and institutions about so the message gets across.... IT'S NOT THE SAME !!!...sorry, rant over

The fact that it looks like smoking is what the medics dislike ... perhaps we should find another orifice through which to vape and expel the vapour through that

I omitted that line specifically, nothing personal, I just hate the way all these media types keep calling vaping, smoking, IYSWIM. I really feel strongly that the difference ought to be pushed and impressed into the public domain

Surely vaping only normalises vaping ?? Or an answer could be to ban cigalikes?

I just wish that they would get their facts right before scaremongering and clamouring for a Ban/High Regulation on e cigs.It seems that they only look at "Ciggy lookalikes" rather than Mods and Juices.None have mentioned the Quality Controls that e juice in UK goes through(assuming you get them from a reputable seller),they have no real idea as to what goes into e juices. That said,i wouldnt use an ecig that uses prefilled cartridges as you dont have a clue what does go into them.I may get a bit of flack here but this is MY PERSONAL take.I would like to see a ban on systems that use prefilled cartridges purely on the strength of not knowing whats in the cartridges. Before they rant and carry on about how bad e cigs are they MUST look at Mods and E juices rather than these prefilled jobs that you can get from virtually anywhere where the quality is unknown.Just my thoughts.
