Shelly, you do need to fill the cartridges (mouthpieces) with e-liquid as the ones with most Rivas come dry.

That depends on whether you have a pre-filled cartomizer or an empty cartomizer, Shelly. Sorry, if you already mention what it is.
If it's pre-filled, then it should be ready to use, if not, then you will have to fill it with e-juice. Look at the filling in the cart and see if it's wet with juice or appears to be dry.

Just drip juice into the cartridge till it's nice & wet - if it starts to pool, dab it with a bit of tissue/kitchen roll.
As soon as the vapour starts to drop off - add a few more drops.
You only have to remove he cap (cartridge) to refill it.

Jerry, fairly certain that Shelley has bought a Riva 510 with atomisers & dry cartridges.

Thanks Chrissie, when she said "atomized cartridge", I thought she meant a cartomizer. Yes, Shelly, what Chrissie said, you will have to fill it with e-juice.

Jerry, it's the one thing above all that confuses most folks - even me when I bought my first e-cig over 3 years ago. The box of cartridges that comes with many starter kits are labelled as "atomised cartridges"

No Shelly, you don't sound dense, you sound like a new vaper, who doesn't know all the terminology yet. It's perfectly normal. Yes, Chrissie, that would be confusing to new users. Shelly if you need to use a separate atomizer with it, then it's a cartridge. A cartomizer has the heating element in the cartridge and you don't need to use a separate atomizer with it.

I hope she's not trying to fill the atomizer, Chrissie !! Shelly, make sure that you are putting the e-juice in the part that has the fluff in it.
Shelly, the atomizer has a blank cartridge on it, to protect it from damage. Don't try to fill that cartridge or the atomizer. You need to fill a cartridge that has fluff in it and then connect it to the atomizer and screw the atomizer onto the battery.
