Hi Shelly I too approached my doctor and asked him if he was aware of e-cigs and what his advise would be on taking up vaping, i suffer from emphysema and was given the green light by my doctor. Have not looked back since then. He was pleased i took up the e-cig ok the damage is done because of the old smokies. Vaping is to me a lot safer that's my and own doctors opinion. Every one else has theirs so each to there own as they say.

Hi Shelly, I got some cartomisers from Jason (Vape Escape) 5 quid you get more liquid in them & its much better. I found i was having to fill the cartridges that came with the riva all the time & it was a nuisance :/ I agree the instructions are a waste of time i too had to go on you tube. I hope you get on ok I'm sure you will love your Riva once you get the hang of it Sue

I've just read this on Jason's site: "Low resistance cartomisers are suitable for batteries with a 510 thread such as Ego, Ego-T and Riva batteries. They should only be used on batteries of a minimum 450mAh." I bought some cartomisers from Jason which I haven't used yet, I'm hanging on to them until my atomizers conk out. www.vapeescape.co.uk/boge-510-standard-resistance-black-and-steel-%285-pack%29~145 My poor little 510 e cig has 180mAH batteries, does the minimum of 450mAh battery capacity apply to all cartomisers? Also, the spare batteries I've ordered form HC are 280mAh. Will they be able to be used OK with my 510? Sorry for the stoopid questions and I hope I haven't asked the same questions before, I often have 'senile moments'! :-[ Thank you.

Welcome shellybo. Probably a bit too late but this is what I do to fill an empty cartridge for my riva (like you I was disappointed with the instructions)
1. Make sure you have kitchen paper or similar to hand - you will spill your liquid or drip it somewhere you don't want it. 2. Remove white-filler from the black cartridge 3. Drop e-liquid into the cartridge till it's about two-thirds/three-quarters full. 4. Put the filler back into the cartridge so that it is level with the top. 5. Slowly add extra drops to the top of the cartridge - one at a time allowing it to soak into the filler until the cartridge is completely full. 6. When the drop "sits" on the top, I found a bent paperclip is useful for sticking down the side of the cartridge and squidging the filler to squeeze that last drop in. 7. Attach the atomiser to the battery and put 2-3 drops into the atomiser to wet the steel wick you can see inside it. 8. Push the cartridge into the atomiser, give a quick wipe with the kitchen towel, screw the cover cone on and then good to go.
How long it will last is the proverbial piece of string but you will need to top the cartridge up with a few drops every now and then - usually when the flavour starts to fade. Don't vape till the cart and filler are dry/empty - you need to keep it topped up and wet or you will burn your atomiser - not a good flavour.

Hi Fuzzy You've bought standard resistance cartomisers, so you will be fine. Low resistance cartomisers put more strain on the batteries and in the case of smaller batteries, drain them a lot quicker, thus increasing the charge cycles required, thus decreasing the lifespan.

Fuzzy, the 280mAh battery will be fine with the cartos & atomisers you have The voltage of a battery (majority of e-cig batteries are round about 3.7v) determines how much power it sends to the atomiser. Simply put, the higher the voltage, the hotter the atomiser/carto will burn. The higher the mAh, the longer the battery can power an attie/carto. However, if you try to use a low resistance atomiser on a low mAh battery, it will try to draw too much power too quickly & fry the battery.
