Dunno about the charger, but best check out video reviews on YouTube for the vamo. V3,4 & 5 should all be pretty similar, function wise. Most reviews by reasonable reviewers go right through all the menu options, and make things a lot clearer than any official manual would.

I have the i4, so guess would be same for i2, the lights flash as charging and stay on one at a time as battery is charging untill fully charged (all 3 lights on solid) If battery is not inserted properly then no lights flash
Edit forgot to add all lights flash once when you first switch power to charger

My i4 charger doesn't show a light if the battery is not seated correctly (if you're asking about putting them in reverse polarity, couldn't tell you - I ALWAYS put them in the right way - Super-Shiny would be proud of me ) When charging, 1 led flashes, then 2, then 3, then 3 solid show its charged. As for manual ....? Hold left button in 15 seconds, to make sure it says output RMS. If it says output mean, hold it in again - it must say RMS. Hold both buttons to get menu - right button to cycle options, left button to change value - have a play. Big button to fire, left button to decrease volts/watts, right button to increase. Left button 3 secs shows battery voltage.. 4 Right button 3 secs shows atty resistance. Make sure its in RMS mode! Think that's about it - enjoy.

Bit of a side note and a heads up for you: I bought an i2 a week or two back to carry some extra load when my xtar VP1 is full up. Now I am sure the nitecore is behaving normally for one of them, but it has got a 0.5 amp charge rate and to be honest I feel it's a bit more harsh with the cells than my xtar VP1, as that can get down to 0.25 amp and also does 1.0 amp and 0.5 amp as well as 0.25 amp. Certainly all cells were noted to become clearly warm when charging in the i2, (even a nitecore branded one I tried in there) and I've been given to understand that cells last longer if treated a bit more gently. So for carrying extra load once in a while then they are probably fine, maybe, but for main stream everyday charging I would not be able to feel comfortable recommending the i2 to another. Hope the extra info helps.

Hope the extra info helps. Hmmm ..... Interesting! My i4 charges 4 @ 0.375a, or 2 @ 0.75a. If I am charging just 2, I ensure they are on separate channels, as by definition, they will charge quicker. They never seem to get hot. What brand are your batteries, & what mah? (I'm sure there is no problem at all using 1000mah or greater with the i2, but now you've mentioned it, is it sensible to pump 0.5a into a 850mah 18350 battery? Probably not!)
Now I'll have to use my 18350s & charge them on separate channels to see if they get warm! My basic understanding is you should pump no more than half the current of the capacity into them? (ie you can put 0.5a safely into a 1000mah battery?) Where's raid2506 ?

Because if they were .......-fire batteries, I wouldn't have been surprised if they got hot! But it seems you have quality batteries, so its not that!
Also, as I said above, maybe putting more than half the capacity in current into a battery, is possibly too much? Can't remember exactly, but if raid sees he's been tagged, he'll know.
My 18650s are Sanyo 2200mah salvaged from laptop, and they only get slightly warm. They get quite warm on discharge. I thInk the very nature of charging a battery - chemical reaction is bound to create some heat though.
I suppose all we can all do is charge as safely as possible.
