Hi
Thanks for your welcomes when I posted on another thread.
I was helped alot when I started researching e-cigs, by other peoples start up threads, so I thought I'd add my experiences.
I started vaping just over a month ago. Bought a Realis and some juice, it was great, the same size as analogues and it helped me move over without a hitch. Never had another smoke since that day.
I soon realised I preferred the caramel/maple type juice, with maybe some tobacco in there. I was thinking that I'd be totally tobacco tbh, but like so many others have said, it just didn't go that way.
The Realis was fine, then when I started refilling the carto's, it didn't work so well, didn't draw properly and wasn't giving the same sort of hit that I felt I had when I started. I tried putting the carto's in a very low oven for a while, which I saw as a way to refresh the carto's (internet find), but it was a disaster, the mouth bung shrunk and had to be superglued back in, it also didn't work.
Even without this, the carto's were starting to taste burnt, no matter how much I filled them up.
So I decided on a Riva 1100 with low resistance carto's, but the kit also came with carts and atomisers. Jason sorted me out and changed an incorrect order, top bloke.
Had the Riva a few days now, as soon as I tried it, wow, this was alot better than the realis.
But the realis did help me to get off the analogues to start with, although it was an expensive way of doing it. Whether I'd have been able to go to a push button and larger Riva to start with, I'm not sure.
The carts and atomisers that came with the Riva 1100 kit, I thought I'd give a go, even though I bought the boge LR carto's with it. Total disaster, tasted awful, I tried everything and wasted alot of juice, but I just couldn't get them to work, I read that Nicky had the same problem and I had exactly the same, even though I tried everything advised to her.
So I tried the carto's and they worked first time. Condom fill to start with, then dripping 3 drops every time the filling started looking dry. Works brilliantly.
I'm getting into Vermillion River Kentucky Maple atm, while using up some other stuff, I tend to like the fresh mints/coffees during the daytime and when I have a beer, the stronger more tobacco like ones, like the KM.
That's about it, love my Riva now and have taken to it like a duck to water. The only thing is, I seem to be using it more than I smoked analogues. Have to watch that.
Sorry about the novel and I have a question.
I have about 10 carto's on the go now, all different flavours, do you keep your carto's you are using, sealed up using the old rubber ends, ie do they dry out?
My lungs feel better and so do I, I'm not breathing so heavily at night either, thanks so much for e-cigs and this forum, I tried everything else to stop.

Hi Womble, & welcome, Glad you are getting on well with it all, tbh i find i get along better with a cartridge and atomiser than i do with cartomisers, despite having a step by step instruction from Jason. I tend to not really use the carto's much now as it just goes horribly wrong and i end up reaching for a nasty out of frustration.
Not actually got any advice for you but i'm sure one of the many experts on here will be along shortly.

A proper hello & welcome to you Womble It sounds like you have done so well Your post is a very good read for other new members Lol, I've not come across the putting the cartos in a very low oven before Must point out that it's not a good idea to try using them after using super glue on them. Out of interest, have you tried using a drip tip on either the atomisers or your cartos?

Hi Womble Yes, stick the rubber bungs back on each end once you've filled them and they will stay wet. If it's a while before you use them again, just give them a few drops to top them up.

Thanks, I did think about the superglue, but apparently it's so safe you can eat it, so I don't think it would be a problem. I do use a drip tip , I bought a plastic one from Jason and I love it, feels really nice in the mouth I use it on the cartos, a very good idea from whoever came up with them. Cheers Jason for the info.

Have a go with the drip tip on the atomisers womble & see how you get on with them minus the carts When using them with an atomiser, you just drip 2-3 drops at a time.

That works, although it seems a little harsher than the cartomisers. I think after trying it, I prefer the carto's, but I'll have a play with them, thanks.

YW Womble I just didn't wanted you to get at least some use out of the atomisers you got with your kit

I seem to be having a slight problem with my vaping.
It's difficult to explain, but I have an after taste in my mouth which seems to be very sweet, I've even tasted it this morning after vaping heavily last night, it seems to be lost in the corners of my mouth. I haven't vaped today yet.
I'm not sure what's going on, have I hammered the vaping too much? Is it the articial sweeteners they put in the juice?
This was using British Bulldog and Kentucky Maple, but I think it's the Kentucky maple which may have done it.
Anyone come across this before?

Most juices do have a slight sweet after taste to them Womble. However, you shouldn't be tasting it first thin in a morning before you vape.
It could just be due to your taste buds changing?

I don't know, I suddenly got this feeling last night that the vaping was affecting the way I tasted things and seemed to be leaving an oily sweet residue in my mouth.
I'll see what happens.
It's going now, but I still get the odd bit. I'm leaving vaping as long as I can today.

Gone back to some tobacco flavours and it still seems to be the same, so maybe it is my taste buds changing.
I've had another go at using the carts with atomisers, looked at a video by scot and followed all the instructions properly. All I got was a mouthful of chemical flavoured vape. Bleh. Not trying that again!

Sounds like it may be your taste buds Womble.
Have you tried a bit of direct dripping just to rule out the cartridges or cartomisers?
